My Entry For Design A Character Challenge Week 7 Color Challenge By W0olf

This week's color palette

The color scheme for this week is quite a challenge for me because I would not usually pick this palette and I think that makes this challenge worth joining. I am in to see how far I can go.

The Process

It took me longer coming up with an idea because I must admit this color scheme is really not bringing in my creativity. I just did a few bold strokes using this green shade to form part of my base and kind of took it from there.

Now that I had started this basic green diamond shape, the character suddenly came out of the shadows and started having a torso and some limbs but still not going anywhere I would imagine. At this stage I am still struggling to come up with something that I could be proud of.

I decided to put a helmet and see how it would look like. If you notice there are no line drawings made as I got no real plans going on. The tentacle-like thing is actually a mistake. While drawing the base of the brown helmet that line miraculously came out I do not know how but my fingers and my mind could not tell. It was the best mistake for this task I must say. That tentacle gave this image a real character now I can say this is a reptile humanoid or something. I then put some more details like a pair of guns, breast plate, and further defined the feet. I let go of the exposed toes and opted to give this character some boots meant for combat in keeping with the idea that this is a warrior back in his own planet Nenebe.

Tool

The only tool I used is a drawing app called "Autodesk" that I downloaded for free on my smartphone. I am using my fingers to draw. So pardon the mistakes you see.

Background Story

This is Oaf he is originally a reptile that came to become a repto-humanoid which is a post apocalyptic creature. Their planet, given its dwindling resources and civil war ended with a cataclysmic destruction. He is part of the race called Dzengari that inhabits a planet, Nenebe. Due to lack of source of subsistence in Nenebe, this race went searching other nearby galaxies until they found earth. Oaf and his fellow Dzengarians need to adjust to their new life on earth and thus quickly evolved into what we now see as repto-humanoids. They are skilled at building protective arms utilizing metals they could find around them. They are peace loving creatures, funny, intelligent and protective of their own kind.
