Desk PUNCH - Concept design for community input

in #design9 years ago (edited)

It is one of these days, you are in a bad mood / frustrated and feel you need to blow off some steam. Look no further friend since I like to introduce my Desk PUNCH that hopefully will once ready help you with just that.

This is still a rough concept design that needs further refinement and in order to make the right changes I would like to ask your opinion on things you like and don't like as well as any improvement suggestions.

Currently I plan to 3d print the base and punching bag part, the spring will be bought from a home depot. For the base I either include something heavy or a suction knob in order to make sure the base stays firm on your desk when you punch. The punching bag print will be covered by some fabrics (e.g. leather) in order to feel more comfortable when punching.

Overall I am very excited about the idea and think I will use it quiet often to either boost up my concentration or just for playing around.

I found that the community is a perfect place to get feedback on design ideas which prevents a lot of changes later on. If you think however this idea is useless and a waste of time, than please let me know as well so I can focus on other things.

Excellent, much more satisfying than a stress ball!!

Thank you @michaellamden68, I am happy you like it.

I really like this idea of having something like this in the work place and if I had one today I probably would have punched it a few times hehe !
I like the idea of using a suction knob at the bottom. The fact is that I think this product has market potential and that means the more simple structure the easier it would be to produce and it would take up less space for shipping.

At the moment this idea I guess is just for yourself but I honestly see market potential here and I would want one of these ! The question is about the upper structure how to make it in a simple way and not making sure it gets too heavy because then the suction know could probably not take the pressure and if it fell on laptop etc it could make some damage hehe. What about the twist lock that was used on older office lamps where you kind of screw it onto the edge ? I better use a picture to show what I mean hehe

Excellent suggestions my friend and I am really happy that you like the idea.

My current preference is also a suction knob at the bottom as a heavy object within the 3d print would still cause the base to move. Your suggestion with the lamp holder is good but I think it would make the model to complicated and I am like you a fan of simplicity.

In regards to the top part, I thinking to make the plastic part hollow and give the walls some extra thickness. On top I plan to add a fabric pillow that will sit on the top part.

Thank you again for your feedback, I highly appreciate it.

I think the suction knob is the best solution also it will look good. They can be quite powerful actually and it should do the job ! I am really looking forward to see how this project develops:)

Thank you very much. Yes I got some very valuable input and will shop this weekend for the parts I need to include to the print.

It's an interesting idea, I guess my wife needs one too☺️🤕

Very interesting indeed looks so awesome !!
