Dev Diary - Perspective Matching in 3D Modeling [Alpina B12 5.7/BMW E31 3D Model]
After months of procrastination and RL issues I've finally gotten around to my first try at camera matching. It isn't half as bad once you figure out the separate image/camera/axis dimensions. So tons and tons trial and error later I have more or less lined up my rough shape and 2 wheels to the image.
Before moving on I'll set up another angle or two and then see if this technique helps with the modeling which I'm sure it will. Backface Culling comes in handy in viewport when you line up the image (which is actually lining up the model which is actually adjusting the camera :).
After trying to do this with the 365 Daytona I eventually gave up as it seems that every single car out there is a 'bit different' in shape and details due to the handmade nature and ultra low production run. In addition most colors (red, yellow, black) of the Spiders completely eat up the shape of the sheet metal. My skills at this moment are not up to the task of modeling sth like that so I went for the mass production E31.
