"Developers" Deliver ..steemCreated with Sketch.

To call oneself a "developer", you must have delivered, or most definitely shall deliver - if you do not deliver, are unable to deliver, or have no intention of delivering, for whatever reason, you are not a developer .. you are an ideas guy, aka a bullshit artist. The following is the modus operandi of such an individual ..

Self-Promotional Uber Bullshit Hype

That's Great, but ..

Can I get a witness!?

Well, we need to see it too!

The Money Calls Bullshit!

When push comes to shove, you gots2 deliver something ..

When I un-deliver ie undo the delivery ie return whatever is delivered; is the individual who did deliver still an developer?

haha.. mmm, I am going to guess ..

YES! :)

Your YES is very debatable. What is the use of a developer when whatever is delivered is not used? I opt to give an even better class to those who create, develop and makes sure whatever is created and developer is also put to use!

Oh, interesting! Yes .. I would agree - delivering for a client is quiet different from creating something that you are rolling out to users yourself - in such a circumstance, if it is not actually used, it would .. to a substantial degree, remain only an idea - no matter how much work has been put into it.

I believe programmers approach artistry, but it is a functional art, so more in-line with industrial design .. a designer whose work is never 'used', can call it personal art, but it would remain only meaningful to the artist .. true success of design, is for it to be 'consumed', even if just visually.

Very interesing @edje .. thanks for forcing some thunkin :)

I'm a product manager from profession. A product manager creates ideas, sells it internal and external in the team/company and makes sure it is created. But a product manager does not create the product itself, that developers do. But the product manager is responsible to make a profitable business. Hence I do see the product manager being a 'developer' in your terms, although the product manager does not create the actual product :)

Oh yes, definitely part of the development process in larger projects. Having little experience in team efforts I was massively over-simplifying :)

Always good to get into interaction and discussion with over simplification! A way to learn as well :) I have 25+ yr of experience in working in middle size companies in high value Telecom and IT :) But I tell you, even the evangelists of a proposition, usually a great communicator int he marketing department and does only evangelise, ie sits with his head 100% in the cloud, is in fact part of delivery of something. This person works together with the product manager to get the proposition and products marketed and sold. But yeh, I also know a lot of people who develop concepts, sell this to some customer and walks away, ie does not take the responsibility for the implementation. Many people want to work like that; Easy way out for them; No real commitments; No really responsibilities.

Smoke and mirrors! You're a wizard Harry, not a developer.
