Japanese minimalist interior design 🇯🇵

in #design7 years ago

I once lived in Japan and travelled around Tokyo and Izu staying in traditional Japanese homes. They were always minimalist in design, clutter free and spotlessly clean. They were built of wood so that in the event of a serious earthquake, the inhabitants might survive.

No-one ever wore shoes indoors and futon mattresses were stored away or hung out to air during the day. I especially loved their use of a shower, followed by a hot bathtub to soak in afterwards.

Here I'd like to share a couple of photographs of modern, minimalist Japanese homes for inspiration. I especially love the lightness and signature green set against light wood and white background:

The cleanliness is pretty incredible, isn't it? I love how people sweep the areas in front of their houses almost every morning.

Definitely! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
