Life As Graphic Designer #6: Some Design Tools I Use! Part 1
Hi folks!
I have not made a post in 2 days! well that seems too much for me right now. This has a reason... I have too muuuuuch to do for some clients on this week including some email campaign design and presentation design, hopefuly tomorrow I will share some more PowerPoint creations :)
This is more or less the campaign I'm helping to build using Photoshop
Ok ok but the post is not about what I'm doing right now... I was thinking about making a post about how busy I'm with client work but then I came to this! some information about tools I use everyday!
Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop was created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll. Since then, it has become the de facto industry standard in raster graphics editing, such that the word "photoshop" has become a verb as in "to Photoshop an image," "photoshopping" and "photoshop contest", though Adobe discourages such use. It can edit and compose raster images in multiple layers and supports masks, alpha compositing and several color models including RGB, CMYK, CIELAB, spot color and duotone. Photoshop has vast support for graphic file formats but also uses its own PSD and PSB file formats which support all the aforementioned features. In addition to raster graphics, it has limited abilities to edit or render text, vector graphics (especially through clipping path), 3D graphics and video. Photoshop's feature set can be expanded by Photoshop plug-ins, programs developed and distributed independently of Photoshop that can run inside it and offer new or enhanced features.

Lorem Ipsum Text
In publishing and graphic design, lorem ipsum is a filler text or greeking commonly used to demonstrate the textual elements of a graphic document or visual presentation. Replacing meaningful content with placeholder text allows designers to design the form of the content before the content itself has been produced.
The lorem ipsum text is typically a scrambled section of De finibus bonorum et malorum, a 1st-century BC Latin text by Cicero, with words altered, added, and removed to make it nonsensical, improper Latin.
Adobe Kuler
This is one of the best resources for creating color palettes based on different color schemes. You can simply move the color wheel around until you find exactly what you want. Another fantastic feature is you can upload an image, and it will automatically detect the colors and propose different color palettes based on them.
There are some other tools I use everyday for my creations but I will need to stop this post here since I need to go and finish some client stuff! I hope this was helpful, I loved the part of photoshop... let's photoshop it... it is nice how something becomes a verb don't think? this reminds me of google too... ha!
