We love to take little cruises through various landscapes and note how the land differs from what we are used to. Though we live in a nearby desert, the desert of New Mexico is vastly different from the one in Arizona.

For one thing, Arizona is located in the Sonoran desert, New Mexico lies on the northern edge of the Chihuahua desert. While both boast beautiful, low-water vegetation, and some similar plants, the Sonoran desert is the only place in the world where the uniquely beautiful, statuesque Saguaro cactus grows.

Regardless of similarities and differences, I love to cruise through both of these lands. As both are such lovely examples of the rare beauty found in the wide open spaces of the desert.
