Former NFL player Greg Hardy is looking at working his way into a UFC contract. Currently 3-0 as an amateur, Hardy is taking his shot in the UFC Contender Series.

Should things work out, he'll make his way to the championship's heavyweight division, where the No. 6-ranked Derrick Lewis will be waiting for him.

"He's a wife beater ... I'd like to get in there with him," Lewis said, via TMZ sports. "I'll fight Greg Hardy. It'll be like vice versa him beating on a woman. I'll be beating him like he was a woman."
By now Hardy's past is well known. He was originally convicted of domestic violence charges stemming from an ugly incident with his then-girlfriend. After she refused to cooperate with authorities in favor of a payout from Hardy, charges were ultimately dropped.

Without any real hope of returning to the NFL gridiron, Hardy is trying his hand in the MMA world. And he's looked pretty solid as an amateur.

Even then, Lewis and others will be more than happy to take Hardy on. One just wonder if they'll have the same thing to say about Floyd Mayweather should he make his way into the Octagon.
