The Call

Welcome to the second theme of the Deranged Photography Contests. For this one, I want you to have captured anything dealing with the amazing colors of the sky, from the sunrise to the sunset and anything in between, as long as it is colorful.

This should be a fun one that everyone should be able to get some amazing shots. I am looking forward to seeing your shots of the sky from all over the world.

My Submission

This is one of those scenes that catches one off-guard, and makes one happy that cameras are common features of cellphones; so this is an AMATEUR-tier shot.

I was driving when this glorious sunset greeted me after a turn onto a side road. Fortunately, there was no traffic, so I was able to pause for a moment, roll the window down, and capture these magnificent colors! The sun had already disappeared behind a small ridge on its rapid descent towards the horizon. Lines of clouds were catching the intense yellow — almost white! — light of the setting sun. Above them were puffs of clouds colored a lovely pinkish-orange on the crests, with mysterious bluish-gray patches between. This delightful view definitely made my brief stop in the middle of the road in Pickens County, SC, worthwhile!
