Expressions - my entry to Deranged Photography Contests - Animals!!
Only two weeks ago I was in the other side of the world; since a big focus of my trips is to see wildlife, I was able to see tons of different species, most of them I had never seen before. So plenty of material to this week's theme!
The hard part was to decide what photo to choose, and since I got lovely expressions from these guys, decide to post about it instead of submiting just one photo... so, presenting Toque macaques!
These primates are endemic to Sri Lanka, and are some of the smallest members of the Macaca genus. There are three subspecies, any the can easily be distinguished from other monkeys by their unique and funny hair-style.
These photos were taken near Sigiryia, where bands of toque macaques lounged in the sun, and did a lot of tourist-watching. Amazingly, I didn't saw any kind of closer contact between humans and monkeys; don't know if it was just chance or if these guys are really well behaved, comparing to the glasses-snatching cousins in other parts of Asia!
Well behaved, or just in a contemplative mood, truth is they did made great models, and I was fortunate to capture a ton of great expressions.
But despite doing my best as a photographer, maybe... just maybe... some of the models got a little bored... ;)
