It's Okay to not be Okay

in #depression6 years ago

Life is frequently unpleasant, and sometimes even torturous. We face loss, hurt, uncertainties and worse. What I have come to fully realise is that it's OK to not be OK - grief, sadness, shame, are not experiences to be ashamed of, they don't make me weak. Hiding how I feel doesn't make me strong. Strength is being able to face and embrace the truth of myself, walk through the challenges and continue creating myself to be the person I want to be. If you're going through a difficult time: don't judge yourself for it. Support yourself to face it, embrace it, and move forward. We are not defined by our emotional experiences - but it is important to remember that it is possible to lose ourselves in them, and from that feel like we are lost in life, and that we have no control.

The truth is that everything is ephemeral.

Great post!
Thanks for tasting the eden!

I think we need to be aware of our emotional state and try to make decisions based upon rationality however, I couldn't agree with you more about acceptance and ownership of emotion. There's nothing wrong with that at all. As Captain Kirk once said "I don't want my pain taken away. I need my pain. It makes me who I am."
