Simple Solutions for a Complex World?

in #democracy6 years ago

Simple people think that simple solutions can fix any problem, but unfortunately, we do not live in a simple world, but an extremely complex and intricate world. The call to implement simple solutions should be a red flag and warning sign to anybody wishing for the world to become a better place, because such solutions are typically a wolf dressed in sheep's clothing herding the sheep to slaughter (or a Trojan horse if you prefer). When simple people unify for a simple solution to be implemented, for what they perceive as a simple problem, you get what many have called a tyranny of the masses―also known as a democracy (democratic socialism).

The United States was founded as a constitutional republic as a decentralized form of government run by a sovereign and self-governing people, with a loose form of democracy to handle those who were not responsible or mature enough to self-govern. Unfortunately, as time has progressed, the simple minded have come to far exceed those capable of self-governing, and now the democratic aspect of the United States far outweighs the constitutional republic aspects. Will simple people continue in their simple ways and march to the tune of the pied piper to their own enslavement, or will the mature fully take up their mantle of responsibility and return to the complexities of self-government? We shall soon see.
