Stalin reincarnated at a London University
I must confess that sometimes when I read a post about the various leftist Western groups I balk at their description as ‘communists’. Surely it’s just a manner of speaking, they can’t really be communists, not even Putin believes in communism anymore.
Well… I just read an article that blew my mind - students at a London university actually think the notorious Soviet era labor-camps - the gulags - were a nice thing, quite just and way better than American prisons! Really, what kind of an idiot can say that the gulags were a good rehabilitation method, where prisoners earned money, learned new skills and had a pretty good time - with literary and drama clubs?
This completely deluded notions were revealed in a series of tweets posted by students at the Goldsmiths University in London, not all the students, obviously, mainly those associated with the LGBT group. (Some sort of war between feminists and transgenders you don’t need to bother with!)
As I’m writing this I’m trying to picture the idiot who wrote the actual tweets and I wonder how can this creature even exist - let alone pass some tests and gain admission to a University? Where did they even come up with such ideas? And that's more than a personal curiosity , I think it is deeply worrying that such ideas somehow circulate among Western students! The quickest google search can surely dispel any notion about the gulags being a good place. The Soviets themselves denounced the Stalin era at the 1956 Party Congress - the famous speech by the Party leader of the time, Nikita Sergeyevich Khrushchev.
I don’t think you can find many people in modern Russia speaking fondly of Stalin’s purges and the gulags. And, yet, somewhere in London there are idiots who actually think the prisoners in the gulags were quite lucky to be there. The over one millions people who died there must have gone to Heaven with a happy heart!
I have a feeling that, in whatever pits of Hell he might be, Stalin is laughing his head off!

Have you seen The Death Of Stalin? It's a self-explanatory dark comedy. Much more dark than comedy in my opinion but people who are super into politics seem to like it.

Yes, I did see the movie and like it very much! I wasn't very sure about it, since it was billed as a comedy, but they did a great job....
Book clubs and theatre......that'd be hilarious if it wasn't so damned tragic. I'm guessing they haven't read Solzhenitsyn.
Indeed. I've spent much of the 90s reading prison memoirs from our own Soviet-inspired prisons and it was quite depressing read.
Guess that's what it means to be confidently ignorant of history and reality
When the collapse comes, these same people will be begging the deplorables (if they haven't rounded up all the deplorables that is) to save them with their oppressive skills such as survival and ability to sweat and work. Nature and life is not as forgiving as this false bubble we live in suggests.
