RE: @stellabelle's Delegation Menu: My thoughts and what I do

in #delegation8 years ago

I do think this an awesome initiative... and you are definitely someone I'd pick as a "human" to represent what Steemit is about.

I also hope there will be many more "human driven" initiatives, to not only help spread the rewards more, but also to increase engagement and interaction. I have been tracking the "number of comments per post" numbers for months... and they keep declining, and I can't even imagine how much they would have declined if we removed all the auto-generated responses from vote bots.

Like you, I am a 100% manual curator... because I believe people build communities... code and bots do NOT.

Sadly, I don't have any SP to throw your way, but you certainly have my support.

We are on the same page and I always like catching up on your posts when I see them in my feed. I'm just usually focusing more on people earning pennies and I try to still catch some good dolphin posts when I find them. It's all about content and engagement to me, but at the same time I don't think most whales are going to miss my 6 or 7 cent upvote if I put it on minnows. I hope this initiative pans out.

One of the best things I have been part of while on Steemit-- and a great example of what the community could be like when it "works"-- was the "Community Engagement Challenge" @merej99 hosted/curated earlier. What made it awesome was near 40 participants with reps from 30-ish to 73 undertaking a huge follow/comment/engage program for 10 days... and it "launched" about 10 minnows from nowhere to... well, several are in Stella's list.

Sometimes, simply being seen matters as much as that 7-cent upvote.

I used to worry that people were going to unfollow me for the amount of resteems I do. Then I started really thinking about it and that was worrying about something I don't control, so I may resteem a lot, but I try to make sure it's quality content. I agree about the "being seen" being an important factor.

I enjoyed @merej99's Community Engagement Challenge' enormously though in truth, it was after taking part that my engagement began to decline. I'm only now becoming re-engaged. :)

Thanks for the shout out @denmarkguy and @tonyr - the CEC was definitely hard core but it was motivational and proved that engagement works. Honestly, my engagement dropped off significantly but I really attribute that to being in an unhappy living space and then busting my ass with work and other projects to finally be home.
I may not be on Steemit very often lately but my friends on Steemit are always on my mind.

It definitely was hardcore and motivational merej and it must have taken a lot out of you at the time. I'm sorry to hear that your home life is so hectic and keeping you from us. I can definitely relate to that also. :(

I may not be on Steemit very often lately but my friends on Steemit are always on my mind.

I echo this sentiment also and am doing my best to try to spend more time with my new friends and get to know them better. I hope you find a bit of respite from the big, bad, real world soon so we can have the pleasure of your company more often once again and with things the way they are now, I would suggest that another CEC would be very welcome, maybe in the new year sometime. :)

the wars of the bots!

If steemit is to have the future that content writers wish for, and not jusy become a bot infested wasteland, manual curation has to be the way forward....
