We take care of our home!

Lake Maracaibo is the main national tourist attraction and is considered one of the most significant monuments of the American continent for its geographical location with access to the Caribbean Sea. The economic importance of this Hydrographic Basin is outstanding, due to the prosperity of agriculture and livestock that have taken root in it. In addition, there are the main sources of oil wealth in the country.

In Venezuela, oil activity constitutes the most important base of the economy, and the waters of the lake have been evidently affected due to the consequences that this activity has brought. Oil spills in the lake are increasingly frequent, several marine species such as fish are contaminated by oil. This has created conflicts and the discontent of the communities has been growing steadily.

However, and despite all this, Lake Maracaibo for us will remain the main attraction of the city. And here I show some pictures of a place that I often visit as the “Vereda del Lago de Maracaibo”, a place of recreation located on the Avenue the Milagro and on the shores of the lake from which you can see the Rafael Urdaneta bridge in the distance, as well as the different boats that travel there.

It is a place that despite being visited quite often for having a variety of attractions, it remains fairly clean as the government agencies in charge of garbage collection strive to do their job well. But on the banks of these waters you can see some solid waste that people throw or simply forget and the wind carries them here.
This day I had the need to contribute to the collection of garbage and be an example for those who usually visit not only this place, but many others that are in the vicinity of the lake as they are: Universities, shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, among others. We must defend and take care of the place where we live since the care of the environment is fundamental for our quality of life now and in the future.
