We take care of our home! by @azabacheclaro
Hello friends, this is my ticket to the contest sponsored by @azabacheclaro
I am from Venezuela and I belong to a beautiful and warm state called Zulia. The Zulia is located at the extreme northwest of the country, its capital is Maracaibo and is the second largest city in this country. The history of the state of Zulia begins with the discovery of Lake Maracaibo, a body of fresh water that many authors describe as a semi-enclosed bay, this being the largest in Latin America. It has a great oil wealth where most of the country's oil production is extracted.
The economic oil activities have caused a serious contamination to the lake of Maracaibo and this has had a negative impact. As many of you know, the main economic activity in Venezuela is the exploitation and refining of oil, and these activities have been a considerable source of pollution. Oil spills deteriorate beaches, cause fish and bird mortality and destroy part of their flora.
The excessive growth of the population in Maracaibo has also become a problem in the city due to its drainage system. The drainage system responsible for collecting rainwater and driving them to Lake Maracaibo is being used today as a dumping ground for solid waste and used as wastewater discharges, which has caused polluting effects that can be observed at a glance on the shores of it.
This has been my job for you, as an environmentalist that I am, I am interested in the conservation of our natural
resources.
There are many environmental problems but we see how the contamination of water has been increasing significantly making prevail an endless number of negative conditions for all living beings.
We are all the cause of environmental deterioration, but if we all understood the importance of conserving natural resources, the safest thing is that each one would put a grain of sand because he knows he will have a better world. That is why I went to the shores of Lake Maracaibo, just outside the Mall Lago Mall to contribute to the development of this excellent initiative and thus be an example for my children and for all of the change that can have our city if we are all environmentally responsible.
In the photographs we can see how the coast is full of garbage due to the causes mentioned above and also because this place is very close to a recreation center, people leave the mall with any bottle of soda or any other solid waste and They throw into the lake without caring about the consequences. I want with this small contribution to raise awareness among the people regarding the subject here exposed and that they understand that we are the ones responsible for the current crisis that many countries are living in today. We must be responsible citizens with the environment and we must respect the rights of everyone, including those of our Earth.
Let's all actively participate in campaigns to protect our natural resources.
Thanks everyone for reading
