Be Kind To Newbies, Increasing Deep Onion Forum Membership

I have been using internet forums for several years now. I found them to be quite useful as a storage of useful information. What I don’t like in many forums is that many forum members especially the old ones look down on newbies. These old forum members have no patience with and most of the time are hostile to newbies. I find this behavior strange at first and disconcerting. This kind of behavior defeats the marketability and potential growth of a forum. Instead of attracting many new members, this kind of environment if left unchecked will lead to the ultimate demise of a forum.

In some forums, I became a resident member because of the useful information I get in running my business. In time, I got to know several people online with the same interests that I have. As I became a senior member in the forums, I understood why old timers are hostile to newbies. The repetitive questions the newbies asked have exhausted the old members. At first they were helpful to newbies but as time went on, they became intolerant and aggressive.

The Deep Onion forum has initiated a culture of friendliness from the very beginning. This friendliness has been passed on from one moderator to another and from one original member to another. There is a bias to help newbies get up to speed on what Deep Onion is about and how they can find other useful information in the forum. When I was a newbie in this forum, I asked a simple question that was answered quickly with helpful images. I then realized that the information I was looking for was right before my eyes but the one who answered me was kind enough to be patient and helpful instead of berating my oversight. I was amazed by the friendliness shown to me.

The Deep Onion forum has made a special page in the forum for newbies to introduce themselves. This page has become a welcoming place for newbies. All members, old and new take time to greet the new members and give them some tips on how to use the forum. This helps new members feel welcome and at ease especially those who have no experience using internet forums. This focus on treating new members well gives Deep Onion a reputation of friendliness and the ever increasing membership numbers is a testament to that.
