Everything in balance, Yin and Yang.
During our lives, we do our best to keep everything in balance. Specialists recommend us to sleep 8 hours a day, then we work from 9 to 5 (8 hours) and then we have 8 hours free time to do what we want. We watch what we eat so that we exercise a little bit more when we had a greasy hamburger or we compensate with what we eat in the upcoming days or week.
-Yin and Yang is a chinese philosophy that describes how seemingly opposite forces actually are interconnected and interdependent. See it as fire and water, light and dark, positive and negative.-
We are constantly busy with our Yin and Yang to stay in balance, maybe you do not even realize it, but we are constantly balancing or compensating things in life in order to stay in balance. So how do we translate this to our own DeepOnion community you might ask? Well it is quite interesting to see that people see this balance in life in different ways.
In our DeepOnion community for example; we see members that spent a lot of time in helping others without necessarily expecting something in return. They just want to contribute to the community. What they probably do not realize is that they also do this to feel part of the community. They feel better when someone is giving them acknowledgment for their contribution by liking it or by leaving a kind reply on their thread/post. They also take information from other members to learn from and they want to keep the community going. So they give and take, without a lot of expectations, being in a perfect balance. Everyone happy. Also notice that the top 20 of richest members often have more likes than posts. Coincidence? I do not think so. ;)
At the other hand you also have members that think of their bank account balance when they are being active within this community. For them it is not necessarily about the appreciation they get for their contributions and what they do for others, but they are more interested in financial gain by getting more Deep Points. Quantity is more important than quality for them and in general they take more than they give back. You will see that these people have a (way) higher post count than the likes they received. By taking more, this member is not in a perfect balance and is less likely to be satisfied with what he gets back (in this case the amount of free Onions).
I think that you should not focus on the Deep points, but just focus on what you contribute to the community and how you can be a part of that. Be active, help others and learn from them. Pay attention to the quality of your posts and threads and you will find that you will gain more respect, acknowledgment and karma will send you some Deep Points.
