Day 92 - 100 days of value challenge!

Next week I'm going back to Emax, the entrepreneurship program for youth in Norway. Last year as a participant and this year as a coach.

I think the main reason I'm going back is to contribute to inspiring these people who are eager enough to learn more that they willingly spend a week of their summer vacation at this program instead of going on vacation, partying or working.

I made some great friends there and had a lot of fun with my team when I was there.

This year they're changing a lot of the work they'll be doing so hopefully I'll learn a thing or two myself.

Volunteer work is something that always have appealed to me. I guess it makes me feel good to know that I've contributed to something and helped.

I've worked as a teachers assistent and as a mentor for entrepreneurs, and I think I've developed some inter-human skills that are important to be able to coach someone.

I like to say that I have a talent for discovering talent and bringing out the best in people. Maybe I should have been some kind of manager, hehe.

But seriously. I don't think it's something I just have as a natural talent, it's been developed after encountering very many different people and learned to know certain personality traits and behavioral patterns. I won't go as far as to say I can read people like a psychiatrist though.

Really, it all bottles down to communication, both verbal and non-verbal. Are you able to pick up which signs another person is sending out and figure out what they're after? What they're trying to accomplish? That's a great start.

And if you're not able, ask them.

By getting an understanding of another persons standpoint you're much better equipped to be able to help them reach their goals.

This strategy applies to a lot of aspects in life. Whether you're coaching someone, selling something to someone, trying to get to know someone or even understanding why they do what they do.

Put yourself in their shoes. It's impossible, but communication helps you get pretty close.

Hope you all have had a great Friday ♥️ 100 days of value challenge - Day 92: How to be a good coach
