My first decoupage attempt.
Makeover of an old hanger.
These two nearly 60 years old handmade hangers have been sitting alone and unused in the attic in some pre-throw away old staff corner at least for 20 something years, pretty much ruined and completely forgotten.
When I found them I immediately felt in love with both, especially with smaller one.
We were cleaning attic and getting rid of old & unused things.
Of course that everybody else wanted to throw them away immediately but I took them aside and put them in a safe place.
I love wood and I love handmade things. Every handmade wooden thing is a piece of art and should be preserved, handle with care and admired, to say at least.
I’ve always wanted to try decoupage techniques so this was perfect opportunity to experiment.
First I started with cleaning & polishing surface with sandpaper, then glued things that were falling off using wood glue.
When glue dried and things were back together firmly in place, I then rounded both edges using rasp for wood & finishing off with some sandpaper for smoother surface.

(after)
I painted all in white and left it overnight to dry completely.
In the meantime I whatched some tutorial videos on YT and got inspired.
So, finally, the real adventure could start.
I bought these paper napkins long, long time ago. First time I sow them in the shop I had to have them immediately: I bought them straight away having some unknown future decoupage project in mind! (And I love blue color so much.)
When started I actually did not have any idea how to start and from where, but started anyway gluing peeled tender pieces of napkins all over the things: something new started showing up and I loved it immediately.
The whole hanger was covered very quickly. It looked like miracle to me. I knew it was me that did it all, but at the same time I felt like it was not me at all and that is so much true indeed. I'm convinced that every piece of art is born by work of artist that during the process of bringing that art in life has been used as a tool by invisible force of creation. It's a fact and that's why being creative is of so much importance. Is immediate and direct bond with something that is much higher than ourselves. Every artist understands this and will agree with me, I'm sure.
I’m definitely pleased with the final result and my first decoupage attempt. Actually, to be really honest, I’m absolutely thrilled and I don't hide it!
This just might be the most impressive thing i have ever seen !
Hahaha.... :-D Thank you @edgarsart.
