The initiative of letting entrepreneurs, technical developers, enthusiasts, researchers to enroll in a masters degree in blockchain technologies started not a long time ago.
Beginnings were humble as an experiment way back in 2013 when the University of Nicosia decided to accept bitcoins as tuition payments until now it's the one of the very few universities that accept cryptocurrencies as payments.
In the early 2014 the university offered to teach an online university level course in cryptocurrencies.
Later in march of 2014 a fully accredited masters degree in digital currencies was officially offered. The only university as of now.
The first university to issue academic certificates onto the Bitcoin blockchain.

The MSc in Digital currency is designed to help entrepreneurs, government officials, influencers and technology developers to understand the blockchain technology in a higher and better way. The aim is to narrow the gap between the current systems in various sectors whether in health, education, politics, technology, and finances with the blockchain technology.
The degree is offered online where DFIN-511: an introduction to digital currencies is offered for free as an open enrollment in MOOC(massive open online courses) where the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies are taught and the remaining 8 courses go for $1,820 or 1,600 euro per course.
