RE: Decentralised protest

I think the whole issue is so much more than the extradition bill, it's more a statement of independence by proxy, which Hong Kong needs to retain its partial autonomy.
The whole protests have been incredible to see and shows what a positive influence technology and social media can be. I do however worry about a time when China loses patience and clamps down, despite all the legal agreements put in place at the time of the handover. The Chinese government appear to be constantly 'testing the water'. I also still have many friends in HK and they tell me there is an underlying sense of fear of the future which drives these protests onwards.
Time will tell, and we can only hope for a positive and free future.

Legal agreements mean little to the CCP, so yes, its all about when they decide enough is enough and through their toys out of their pram. Xi is a bit of billy no mates at G20 at the moment so it would be interested to see what happens after this weekend.

As to the locals, especially the younger generation, many don't see a future at all that's why they're giving their all this time as they have nothing to lose. My heart really goes out to them.
