Creating Traditions!
The holiday season has already begun! Holidays can mean a variety of things to different people across the globe. However, with most holidays there comes tradition. If you have been following, you know I am big on tradition! I have posted many traditions already this holiday season, from elf on the shelf to sledding! Another tradition I have been saving is gingerbread houses!
Every year I buy a gingerbread house kit. It has definately became a family tradition. It is something that is not only fun, but tasty! We sure do enjoy eating them, just as much as making them! However if you have multiple children close in age, then you know with fun time comes bickering! They always seem to fight over the little things. Like who gets to put what, where! So I decided to try an experiment! I found a set of four mini houses, and thought I would see if that ends the fighting!
This experiment was way better than expected! The kit had lots of candy and two packs of icing. So after cutting the tips of these bags, I only had to split those bags in half and use two of my own bags! That eliminated some of the arguing! Plus four individual houses left them absolutely nothing to fight over, as I also separated the candy evenly into 4 dishes. I got all that for $10.00! I did not have to buy four different kits!
The best part about the whole experience, is we got to continue our tradition with improvements. No more fighting over the little things! We got to fully enjoy the entire thing. From building to eating! That is a parenting win for me!
Hopefully I can find this next year! What a deal! To think I was going to buy 4 kits! I saved myself $30. Wow! Either way, I would have still made the gingerbread house with the kids. Traditions are something familes can cherish for a lifetime! So we will continue to make gingerbread houses, go sledding and look for Ginger our elf every morning for years to come! Why? Well, because I say so! That is why! 😊 In all seriousness though, because I am giving something to my kids that my grandkids will remember when I am long gone! Possibly even my great grandchildren too, and it does not get much better than that!
What traditions does your family have? Let me know in the comments!
Have a wonderful holiday season!
