MANGA REVIEW // Death Note
Death Note is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The story follows a Japanese teenager named "Light Yagami", who discovers a supernatural notebook owned by a Shinigami (Angel Of Death), that grants you the ability to kill anyone whose name is written in the notebook.
Light, being the kind of person that he is, uses to book to kill all the criminals in the world. Which only works out for him at first. Of course dead criminals never hurt anyone, but, when the law sees what's going on it carries the same motives of a possible serial killer. So, the identity of the one causing these murders falls upon not only his local police department, but also catches the attention of a super private investigator type who helps the law catch criminals worldwide. At first, he doesn't show his face and goes by "L". He becomes Light Yagami's biggest threat, and the showdown between wits begins.
Throughout the manga, Light is accompanied by a Shinigami (Angel Of Death) named Ryuk. Who is the owner of this supernatural notebook that Light possesses. He aids Light at times and informs Light of the many rules that are included with the notebook. As Light learns the many different rules of this notebook, his killings become more and more intricute down to the exact moment in time they happen to how they happen. The intesnity rises as Light's presence becomes known, while his identity stays a mystery to the media. The masses have taken to calling him a God named "Kira" and crime percentages in cities all over the world begin to drop. But the hunt for this "killer" runs deeper. A tale of murder, lies, deciet and drama.
If you enjoy Manga and really like a story that keeps you on your seat, make sure you pick this one up. I give it a 5/5. Read this Manga before the movie is released on Netflix!
