How To Stop The excuses Generation
"They are just excuses!" you might have heard from your colleagues or friends. Well, I will tell you the best way to deal with them: "No!" That's it, straight off the bat. That is how you will win the war against your work related stress!
People think that excuses are just clever words that they use to hide their insecurities. They think that by using them they can get out of trouble. However, these 'ad excuses' are just a waste of time and energy! They do nothing to solve problems and instead only make things worse.
Admit it: you make mistakes too! Admit that you did something wrong and tell your boss about it! It might be embarrassing, but it will help! Don't wait until someone else makes a mistake to admit your own mistakes. You might think that it is not important but it is.
When you find yourself blaming someone else, tell yourself that it is not worth the effort. If it is not important enough for you to correct something, don't do it. For example: if you find that you are stressing about work related stress because you did not get enough sleep last night, tell yourself that it is not important enough for you to worry about sleeping. If you find that you are stressing because you did not complete your tasks on time, then tell yourself that the time management strategies that you have been following are not helping you achieve your goals and that you need to reassess your strategy. This may sound harsh, but it is one of the most effective ways to reduce work-related stress.
One of the most common reasons why people find it hard to take control of their situation is that they give away the control by making use of 'excuses' to escape responsibility. If you find that your boss is constantly going on about something, or you are having a lot of difficulty with your work because you are always doing something wrong, then you need to stop yourself from making these excuses. If you do not want to acknowledge your mistakes and weaknesses, then you cannot expect to make changes in your career or in your life. If you are finding it tough to get out of bed in the morning because you are worried about your work related stress, then it is high time that you took a break and tried to relax.
It is important that you avoid using the same excuses over again because this will only serve to make you feel discouraged. You cannot push yourself too hard, because you might never achieve your goals. Give your excuses some time to wear off before you make another attempt. However, if you find that your excuses are still giving you problems, then you should take some concrete action! That action should be to take control of your situation so that you can finally get rid of your excuses and live a happy and successful life.
You have probably been using your excuses to justify poor performance at work. This is a habit that you must break out of because it will just become a way of justifying poor results. If you continue to use this excuse when you find that you are not getting the results that you want, then you will never be able to get things right. Instead of blaming the circumstances that you are facing for your poor performance, it would be far better if you admit that you are not doing your best work and that you need help!
Your excuses may just be giving you the necessary ammunition to talk your way out of any difficult situations. If you are in a position where your boss is constantly trying to make you work harder than you would normally, then you must find creative ways of getting out of the situation. Remember: it is not what you say, but how you say it! When you are in a place where you are really struggling with a situation at work, then it is probably time that you looked at your excuses for a little bit more closely.
