Is Price (BCH) = Price (ABC) + Price (SV) True?

Opinion Piece

People supporting the SV side of the BCH battle don't want a split at all and key thought leaders claimed that the split would not make any profit for anyone. Is this true?

If you think about it, splitting is almost the same as printing money. All of a sudden there is twice as much BCH, only they might have a different ticker symbol .Sure, somebody is likely to pay you something for it, but does that value come from the other coin?

This is my issue with that claim. Nobody gave up anything to get both. Out of nowhere, now there are two coins, and if someone would be willing to buy them from you, I can't imagine how it makes any sense that they would be less valuable, especially in the short term. Sure, the goal of the blockchains are often to take market share from the others, but I wouldn't say that's a big goal right now, unless you're a BTC maximalist. It's not a big goal, because right now there is so much room to grow from outside adoption.

As long as people keep coming in there should be a market for both coins, and because no one had to sacrifice anything to have that second coin, I just can't see the reasoning on this claim.

What about you? Do you think differently than me on this? Feel free to share.
