Hey @hannahwu, I will be travelling for work to suzhou soon, I hear that you're from that area. I was wondering what is there to do there in the evenings? places to visit perhaps? saw that there are many gardens in Suzhou but by the time my work ends, well, the gardens would be closed.

There would be fewer places to visit after your work ends. But there are still some water parks and amusement parks opening at night. Or you could visit some bars. There are many activities during the world cup time.
But I suggest you to take some time to visit 拙政园. As an old saying goes, “the gardens south of the Yangtze River are the Best under Heaven, and among them the gardens of Suzhou are the Best.” And now the raining season is coming. The garden in the rain looks more poetic.
oh dear, how bad is the rain? Any places of interest near the xi-an jiatong university? Also how far is suzhou to the airport? Thank you so much for taking the time to advice me on this

Xi-an jiaotong university is in Industrial park district. You may visit Jinji lake. The night view there is really great.
Half an hour by train from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Suzhou.
