"Guy telling my girlfriend he likes her..."

Hope you are doing well.
Today I have a case of an boyfriend who feels unsure about his girlfriends old friend telling her that he likes her. He asks the following question.
Oldish friend that's never hung out with her really coming back into her life and suddenly does this knowing of said relationship. In coming forward with his feelings he also said that "I respect your relationship and don't expect anything to come of this and don't want to confuse your feelings." Is this alright in your eyes or is this guy full of shit and is wanting something to come of it? Cause my idea is that if you respect the relationship and don't want to confuse feelings or expect something to come of it then there's no reason to even come forward till she's single. Ages are in the 18-22 region.

Here is my opinion
When it comes to feelings of the opposite sex, guys and both girls cannot take a seat backwards if they really like someone, they will say it.
In this person's case despite knowing that she has a boyfriend he still told her he likes her was probably intentional. Because, telling someone you like them changes how you feel about them entirely.
The old friend, could've said that to her just to reignite some feelings that his girlfriend probably had for him or he just probably wanted closure on whether or not his girlfriend actually did like him or didn't.
Either way it doesn't seem like a big deal him telling his girlfriend that, however if she decides to keep in touch with this old friend then it may lead to possibly a breakup or a messy situation, if they keep talking.
My advice
Tell you're girlfriend to be smart and deal with the situation where it doesn't in the least bit affect your relationships and everything will be golden.
Of course the other guy is trying to make a move. You can't let that happen.
Don't worry it's not my girl loool, however I agree with you that the guy told the girl just to get something out of her.
sorry for the language but this looks like a bitch-ass move to me.If she has a relationship than you have to respect it.The only case you should say sth or do is if the other guy was treating her like shit or even was hitting her.
Don't worry about the language and I do agree with you on in this case not telling her is the best way to respect the relationship. If a guy tells a girl he likes her, things will never be the same between them even if it doesn't show.
