To Guys..From a Girl... How to write your Online Dating Profile (so it's not creepy) and you get the Girl!

in #dating7 years ago (edited)

Hey guys. These days we know that almost everyone is online dating. The stigma is gone now, so its safe to go out there and find yourself an incredible girl.

Statistically there are more men on dating sites than women. Men usually initiate the conversation , and may have to send out lots of messages to get a response. That's ok.

Once you have found a dating site you want to submit your profile to start planning.

Before you write a single word about yourself, honestly think about what you truly desire in a female partner and what type of relationship you want to have. The goal is here is to be totally and brutally honest with yourself. What really works for you? If you a homebody, you may not want to pick a partner who is going to be going out and doing stuff all day long. If you don't really want pets or kids, don't date someone who does. It seems like a really obvious concept, but I can't tell you how many people I know got involved with someone who seemed awesome only to find out months down the line that they were incompatible in some major way. Don't waste your time or theirs doing that. One of the most important things you will want to convey to your potential date is what type of relationship you are looking for. If you are looking for someone to marry, say that. If you never intend to get married or just want to date without relationship potential, you must be upfront about it. Trust me, it works better for everyone involved.

The next step is to select some good photos. Guys, these photos should be recent and flattering. Don't post a photo of yourself from 5 years ago when you were 30 pounds lighter. Women will meet you and turn the other way. Women want to see the real you. Posting old photos that don't represent what you look like now feels like dishonesty. Women want what's real.

If you don't have any good photos of yourself, get some taken. Go to craigslist and find a photographer, or get a friend to take some nice shots with you. Refrain from posting photos of yourself with a bunch of friends. We want to see you. highlight yourself, we are not dating your friends.

Now for the writing part......
The #1 Rule of Online Dating is to Present the REAL YOU in an honest and lovable fashion
Yes the REAL YOU

The number one mistake I see guys making on their online profiles is basically sugar coating things or fudging who they really are thinking they will get more girls that way. Listen....someone who is going to date you and like you is going to want the real you. You are loveable no matter what you look like, how much money you make and what car you drive. There's someone out there who will love you for who you really are.

The goal is to highlight yourself while being honest.

Don't be this guy My friend works for a car company and I was with him for this one event, but I work at Starbucks and drive a 2004 Honda- girls will dig this right?

I suggest including in your profile information about yourself, as well as saying what you are seeking.

For Example....

Hi, I'm Mike. I'm so happy you are taking the time to read my profile. I'm a huge fan of surfing. I'm happiest when I'm in the water on a day with epic waves. I'm seeking a girl who is adventurous and who loves to surf as well. I'm looking for a long term relationship , and would like to get married and have kids someday.

You will want to write a detailed profile , but you get the idea here. You are stating clearly what is important to you. That way you can attract someone who can fit into your lifestyle and you can both have fun and be happy.

Once you have found some girls you want to message, write something nice to them and include your phone number. You want to sound friendly and disarming in your first communication.

Hi, I'm Mike. I saw your profile, and you look like a great person. I'd love to chat over the phone and get to know you a little better. Give me a call if you would like to say hi. Looking forward to hearing from you.

In your first message, I would refrain from including language like you are hot, you are beautiful, you are my dream girl etc.. etc... Also refrain from writing stuff like I am the man of your dreams, We will be perfect together, let me show you how a real man should treat you etc.. etc.. (All that stuff is creepy) You don't even know this person yet.

Don't do this! This is super creepy. Women do NOT like this!

**I highly recommend at some point calling them and talking to them on the phone prior to meeting! Texting is great and its informal, but if you are looking for a relationship, you cannot get the jist of someone via text. So much is lost in communication via text. In fact , you might be hurting your chances of getting a date with that person because stuff gets lost in translation. Set yourself apart by asking if you can call her. You will see right away if you click. That way you don't have to waste your time or money going on a date with someone you could have disqualified over the phone.

Once you have a date, set yourself apart by being a gentleman. Dress nicely. Groom yourself, take a shower. Go easy on the cologne. Once again, be yourself. If you really like her, offer to pay if you can.

So that's it in a nutshell. Take some of these helpful hints and you will be well on your way to getting the girl of your dreams.
