Dash Crypto Currency a Good Idea with Poor Execution

in #dash7 years ago (edited)

The idea of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization is so good that a large community has grown to meet the challenge. Wouldn't it be great if anyone could submit an idea to the world, have it evaluated and possibly even financed into reality! This would mean any good idea, no matter where it came from or who it came from could take root and possibly make the world a better place. There is abundant precedent of this realization.

Dash is a crypto currency based on the concept that projects may be funded by votes of elite nodes who each have over $300,000 in USD. To begin a project first one must gather the current equivalent of $2,000 or 5 dash. This money is sacrificed whether or not your proposal is accepted.  In Ghana, that is the equivalent of 5 months salary. Every 6 days these elite master nodes earn $600 because they already have over $300,000. This is cash extraction from poor to rich. In some cases it might be possible for a group of good intentioned poor people to gather enough funds, spend time in the community forums, and get support for an idea, but a quick look into the budget proposals that are approved in practice illustrates perfectly that the only dash proposals approved are proposals the benefit the spread of dash. In essence the elite master nodes will continue to generate profit, while anyone in need of a budget will feed the elite voters indefinitely. This is a hard coded class distinction more pronounced than a rent / renter relationship. In practice the workers work to spread the name of dash under the pretense of altruistic projects, while the few centralized voters harvest the rewards.

In grief-tourism sometimes the tourist will need to grab a shovel and move some dirt. With dash you don't have to think about the dirt or the shovel. You get all the rewards and PR of building business in Africa while low-key fleecing Africans in the traditional western way.

There may be some things Dash does well, but as far as decentralization, accessibility, and humanitarian philosophies go, it fails miserably. It is an organization that facilitates money moving from the have-nots to the haves in the usual way.
