Review: Dark, A NetFlix Series.
Yes, I admit it... I do sometimes binge watch a series on NetFlix.
Direct me to my 12 step program already!
I just binge watched 10 episodes of the first season, and if you are a fan of sci-fi and time travel, then this should give your brain some food for thought. Temporal Paradoxes: Causal Loops, The Grandfather Paradox, Wormholes(Einstein-Rosen Bridge) and more makes for a fascinating story. The initial description of the series does not do it any justice.
A set of mysterious circumstances, and disappearances which happen every 33 years, is the beginning. Or is it the end, or perhaps both?
This series is set in Germany and the dialogue/audio is in German, but if you are like me you enjoy a bit of foreign television and film for a breath of fresh air. You will be following a main character called Jonas quite a bit, and if I say more that would give away too much information.
I won't share any spoilers but will give a warning, some of the subject matter is indeed dark. And although I do not agree with it, sometimes you have to take the dark with the light, and find a balance. That being said, if you are willing to give it a look, let the episodes sink in as you watch. Following some of the characters at three different ages, interacting with themselves and each other in the past and future is intriguing. Imagine meeting your Mother when she was 14, and totally off the rails. LOL
Get your beer and favorite snack ready, be prepared to take mental notes. This is definitely popcorn flix in action, which is great for being snow bound.
I give it a solid 3.75- 4.0, as I think about the series more. So give it a shot if you are into this sci-fi genre. :-) It is rather hard to find a series like this that entertains while you think, and it is decent to watch. There are a few serious mind blowing moments. And if you are watching in English, treat this like an old kick ass Kung Fu movie.
Would I watch it again, or watch season 2? Yes.
Yes I can be a serial binge watcher. But regular cable television is history for me, no thanks!
I also watched the first season of The Punisher, intense! More on that later.

Thanks @hashclouds for taking a peek :-) And yeah, cutting the cord 6 months ago was the best decision I've made in a bit LOL saves me almost $100 a month, and I even upgraded my internet speed to 3x. And I was only really watching two or three networks at most. Now I only pay $21 a month for Amazon and Netflix and we're golden.

Great review. Have to give it a go. I'll have to find some dedicated time though... usually have shows on another monitor while I'm coding or writting... Subtitles are hard to watch concurrently. :-) Does sound like it's right up my alley.
Thanks @jasonbu :-) Yeah, I had to put up the mouse, and be a bed potato for a bit. As for coding, and doing subtitles.. yeah I can see where that would be an issue, you may wind up with a few expletives in your code. LOL
