MUGWOMPS MIRE - D&D Dungeons and Dragons IDEAS? SCENE
The town of "Coldefine" Stands within the shelter of the "Great Morn Mountain Range" It's been a place for settlers for many a year, some 2 thousand to be exact. At one point there was a great raging war which took place. Now there are only drunks and hooligans, kicking chickens and playing that god awful sport "Talen Tell".
Well there is one thing I hat more than that, the "Corovove Pit" It bloody stinks and because the walls of Coldefine are so damn high towering like jutting spikes a pinnacle for all to see, there doesn't seam to be cause to escape it. The spikes or as some locals call them, the spines, jut out, bright ivory's stale as bone, to the sky.
It's strange how the sub divide works. From the baron landscapes beyond.
There are a population of maybe 5550 to 5600 people living in Coldefine, each time one tries to climb their way out to the top of the spikes. They grow higher in to the sky and make sure that inhabitant, dies through the fall. Or if they survive it won't be for long.
It's as though them spikes have a mind of their own. The hapless victim all bent and contorted, will then be skewered from which point on the ground they lay. An risen for all to see, rectified in the town center for all to marvel, or vomit as many do.
The disappearances are just as confusing as the replications, an seam to be within an air to containing the population.
Aging an gaps of memory, become cold and distant. Once while talking to someone you know well, you may loose all recollection of who they are. They may disappear and the whole community would have no clue, you'd even existed.
That's not the worst of it, once they are gone, they are replaced with 2 identical replicas. An I mean identical, in every way. Personality, look, thoughts and even texture and smell. It often drives each one or the others crazy, to see themselves reflected, and has been known to increase the population, some what considerably in a matter of hours.
1 pair known as the martin twins, are some great family of 20 or so now.
Just imagine the most idiotic person, you have ever met and then seeing 20 of him.
Beyond the wall lies the "Murk Dwelling Depths" no one from within has ever seen the "Mugwomps" which live within it's "stenching pits", which strut and jut out across a baron landscape which goes for 10's to 100's of miles, maybe? in all directions. But the Mugwomps know different! Don't they?
Your settlers appear, not knowing why, but knowing that they are exactly the same as there brothers/sisters, which are held within a room unfamiliar.
You have all of the memories you had before and the room is lit, you all imminently see your Doppelganger twins, what every you want to call them.
Where will you go from here and what will you do, the world is powerful, full of traps and snares, the light which shines on Coldefine gives all their power and life, an while it shines all will be good. But step beyond the spines, which jut to the sky! an ask?
"Will you survive"? Only you can tell.
