My utter most favorite Ballet would have to be Giselle, though a bit morbid the meaning to me is that True love, the real kind will endure regardless of any one or thing.

Over the years I have learnt that true love is not a feeling or emotion it is a commitment to the person who once set your soul on fire and who possible still does. (I might add they could have never done so too)

Back to Giselle.

Giselle is full of lies, deceit, hope, love and loss. It captures what happens in everyone's life at one time or another it has different forms but the results can always be traced back to a negative act.

Giselle is the most beautiful peasant, who has caught the eye of two men Hilarion and Duke Albrecht. The only problem is that the Duke disguised himself as a peasant Loys to try and win Giselle. To make matters worse his set to marry Bathilde a royal.

The villages are set to have a celebration and they ask Giselle to join in, she dances despite her being weak from an illness.

During the celebration Hilarion exposes the Duke. Bathilde is confused and to save face with his bride to be, he shrugs the situation off. Giselle shaken by the event confesses her love for the Duke only to be rejected as she is not royal.

In her sensitive state her heart breaks, she goes mad and eventually dies.

As she died from a broken heart she will join the Willi's, a group of souls that will kill any lone wondering man. The first task of the Willi's is to kill the man who caused you to die by seducing him and making him dance until he dies.

Poor Hilarion the third wheel mourning Giselle's death is captured in the Willi's spell and forced to dance until almost dead he then falls into the river and drowns.

The Duke, overcome with regret goes to Giselle's grave to morn, the Willi's make Giselle Dance with the Duke as they have control over her.

Giselle still in love with the Duke does everything she can to keep him alive until morning breaks.

Once the sun starts to rise the Willi's have no more power and are sent to their graves, But because Giselle has no malice in her heart and was able to spare the Duke's life. She is free from the Willi's power and can finally rest in peace.
