Spain has a great musical diversity that has allowed it to be projected worldwide as a cultural power. Many of its musical forms are famous and have crossed the land borders, as much in the symphonic, the folkloric, the traditional, the popular, the modern, in all the areas it has stood out enormously. The names of singers that have stood out worldwide are countless, but to mention two, whose albums were sold in most countries of the earth and recorded in different languages: Raphael and Julio Iglesias.

The region that has undoubtedly contributed most to the projection of Spain is Andalusia, where many singers and musicians emerge who exalt their regional musical forms and is the reason why flamenco is one of the most widespread musical genres.

Flamenco has such particular characteristics that it is possible to merge elements of this genre with musical genres from other latitudes, a fact that has led to a greater diffusion, as we find elements of this culture in jazz, pop, Latin music , the dance and all the rhythms that one can imagine.

Music to dance, where disco music also comes in, could not be the exception. There are many songs that have been installed in discos and parties in much of the world. Some of these songs, inspired by the Spanish repertoire, and especially Andalusian, have remained throughout history as tracks that are still danced today and that every time they sound win new followers.

On this occasion I will review two of those songs that bring together elements of flamenco and that have become "classics" of dance.

Disco Flamenco

The song is part of a single album by the group "Olé", which included this selection of songs, on one side, and the song Mi corazón, on the B side.

As the title itself indicates, it is a compilation of flamenco tunes mainly, which include: No Sé, No Sé, Coplas, Perdido Amor, El Porompompero, El Gato Montés, Dancing On The Flamenco and Viva España. This album was released in 1978, under the EMI label.

Macarena

In 1993 it was composed one of the most successful songs of all time. A year earlier, during a tour of Venezuela, the Spanish duo Los del Río coincided in a private party with the flamenco dancer Diana Patricia. The duo was so shocked by the performance of this Venezuelan dancer, that one of its members, Antonio Romero Monge, wrote at the moment a text that, as a recognition, he dedicated to her publicly. That lyric and that dancer were the starting point for the song that the following year became part of the album "I like it."

The US television station VH1 cataloged it as the "musical number 1 of all time" and the Billboard magazine, in its 55th anniversary, gave it the position N ° 7 in "The All-Time Top 100".

Numerous versions have been made of this song, which includes the 2016 sequel made by the Cuban group Gente de Zona, with the participation of the creators of the song.

España tiene una gran diversidad musical que le ha permitido proyectarse a nivel mundial como una potencia cultural. Son famosas muchas de sus formas musicales que han traspasado las fronteras, tanto en lo sinfónico, lo folklórico, lo tradicional, lo popular, lo moderno, en todas las áreas se ha destacado enormemente. Los nombres de cantantes que han destacado a nivel mundial son incontables, pero por mencionar a dos, cuyos discos fueron vendidos en la mayor parte de países de la tierra y grabaron en distintos idiomas: Raphael y Julio Iglesias.

La región que, sin duda alguna, ha aportado más a la proyección de España es Andalucía, de donde surgen cantidad de cantantes y músicos que exaltan sus formas musicales regionales y es la razón por la cual el flamenco es de los géneros musicales más difundidos.

El flamenco tiene unas características tan particulares, que es posible fusionar elementos propios de este género con géneros musicales de otras latitudes, hecho éste que ha llevado a una difusión mayor, pues encontramos elementos de esta cultura en el jazz, el pop, la música latina, el dance y todos los ritmos que uno pueda imaginar.

La música para bailar, donde entra también la música disco, no podía ser la excepción. Son muchas las canciones que se han instalado en las discotecas y en las fiestas de gran parte del mundo. Algunas de esas canciones, inspiradas en el repertorio español, y sobre todo andaluz, se han quedado a lo largo de la historia como temas que aún hoy en día se siguen bailando y que cada vez que suenan se gana nuevos seguidores.

En esta ocasión voy a reseñar dos de esas canciones que reúnen elementos del flamenco y que se han convertido en “clásicos” del baile.

Disco flamenco

La canción forma parte del un disco sencillo del grupo “Olé”, que incluía esta selección de canciones, por una cara, y la canción Mi corazón, en el lado B.

Como el título mismo lo indica, se trata de una recopilación de temas del flamenco principalmente, donde destacan: No Sé, No Sé, Coplas, Perdido Amor, El Porompompero, El Gato Montés, Dancing On The Flamenco y Viva España. Este disco vio la luz en 1978, bajo el sello EMI.

Macarena

En 1993 fue compuesta una de las canciones más exitosas de todos los tiempos. Un año antes, durante una gira por Venezuela, el dúo español Los del Río coincidieron en una fiesta privada con la bailaora de flamenco Diana Patricia. El dúo quedó tan impactado con la actuación de esta bailarina venezolana, que uno de sus integrantes, Antonio Romero Monge, escribió en el momento un texto que, como un reconocimiento, se lo dedicó a ella públicamente. Esa letra y esa bailarina fueron el punto de partida para la canción que al año siguiente pasó a formar parte del disco “A mí me gusta”.

La televisora estadounidense VH1 la catalogó como el “número 1 musical de todos los tiempos” y la revista Billboard, en su 55° aniversario, le dio la posición N° 7 en “The All-Time Top 100”.

Son numerosa las versiones que se han hecho de esta canción, que incluye la secuela de 2016 hecha por el grupo cubano Gente de Zona, con la participación de los creadores de la canción

Spanien hat eine große musikalische Vielfalt, die es ermöglicht hat, es weltweit als kulturelle Kraft zu projizieren. Viele dieser musikalischen Formen sind berühmt und haben die Landgrenzen überschritten, sowohl in der symphonischen, der folkloristischen, der traditionellen, der populären, der modernen, in allen Bereichen hat es sich enorm herausgestellt. Die Namen der weltweit herausragenden Sänger sind zahllos, um nur zwei zu nennen, deren Alben in den meisten Ländern der Erde verkauft und in verschiedenen Sprachen aufgenommen wurden: Raphael und Julio Iglesias.
