DanceWeekend - Paul van Dyk
Hello to all music lovers,
Today I introduce a DJ (Paul van Dyk), who comes from the capital of electronic music. One might think that the capital would be Amsterdam because the Dutch also make good music and the name van Dyk sounds very Dutch. But it's not because I'm talking about Berlin and Paul van Dyk is just a pseudonym. His real name is Matthias Paul and he was born next to Berlin, in Eisenhüttenstadt.
Before the fall of the ironcurtain he wanted to become a carpenter, but everything changed for him in 1991 when he started DJing. He was mixing also in Tresor, the club I mentioned last week. In Tresor there was at the time an old acquaintance I introduced a couple of weeks ago, Kid Paul (Energy52).
His first big hit was the remix of Humate - Love Stimulation

heute stelle ich einen Dj (Paul van Dyk), welcher aus der Hauptstadt der elektronischen Musik kommt. Mann konnte denken das die Hauptstadt währe Amsterdam weil die Holländer auch gute Musik machen und er den Namen van Dyk sehr holländisch klingt. Aber es ist es nicht weil ich spreche über Berlin und Paul van Dyk ist nur ein Pseudonym. Sein richtiger Name ist Matthias Paul und er wurde neben Berlin, in Eisenhüttenstadt geboren.
Vor der Wende wollte er Tischler werden, aber alles wechselte sich für ihm in 1991, wenn er angefangen hatte als DJ aufzulegen. Er lag auch in Tresor auf, den Klub den ich vorige Woche schon erwähnt habe. In Tresor gab es zu den Zeitpunkt ein alter Bekannter über den ich geschrieben habe: Kid Paul (Energy52).
Sein erster größeres Erfolg war den Remix von Humate - Love Stimulation:

Paul van Dyk brachte auf dem Markt seine erste Single in einem Projekt namens The Visions of Shiva zusammen mit Cosmic Baby, die andere Hälfte von Energy52.
In 1998 he released his first album 45 RPM which also brought his world fame from the song For an Angel. The song was # 1 in UK Dancecharts for 2 weeks and 4 in Germany. The rest from now it's history.
In 1998 erschien sein erstes Album 45 RPM welches auch sein Weltruhm brachte durch den Lied For an Angel. Das Lied war für 2 Wochen auf Platz 1 in UK Dance Tops und 4 in Deutschland. Der Rest danach ist Geschichte.
He has released 8 albums so far. According to the British magazine DJ Mag, in 2005 and 2006 he was crowned World's No.1 DJ.
Er hat bis jetzt 8 Alben auf den Markt gebracht. Laut der britischen Zeitschrift DJ Mag wurde er 2005 und 2006 als World's No.1 DJ gekrönt.
Because of his status, he was able to work with various other singers, such as Rea Garveyfrom Reamonn.
Wegen seinen Status konnte er mit verschiedenen andere Sänger arbeiten, wie zBsp Rea Garvey von Reamonn.
He composes film and games (Need for Speed) music and plays at the biggest festivals:

And Paul van Dyk has also his own podcast called *Vonyc . He is very active, despite that he had a serious accident where he had broken his spine.
Und Paul van Dyk hat noch seine eigene Podcast namens Vonyc. Er ist sehr aktiv, obwohl er einen schweren Unfall hatte wo er seine Wirbelsäule gebrochen hatte.

Fantastic DJ - no doubt, great post as always @alexvan - I wrote about that guy also numerous times - hence I am trying to discover ones not so famous - there are some outstanding talents in the scene. I love PvD - met him - he is awesome but also a professional business man.
One thing I do NOT totally agree - capital of electronic music is sure in Germany but I see that more in the area of Frankfurt - however Berlin comes close - might always be a discussion though. Berlin has done a lot in Techno, Frankfurt too - I see both on a similar level.
Thank you for the comment, yes, I will post also some not that famous DJs from the scene in combination with the most famous ones. PvD knows his business, which is good.
For me electronic was always Berlin, but I can't argue with you on this one as you clearly have the advantage of the native experience. Only thing I can do is to dig deeper to check it. ;)

Ive seen someone like me who loves dance too , i watch a lot of break dance videos although i cant even move an inch in my body , but i still love seeing people dance

If someone is intresting in that kind of music and origin and history there is a grate documentary movie about history of house music. Totaly recomended for people interesting in electronic music!
