The rising reggae dance hall artist born Damion Tamar Lumley also known as “Quick Cook” was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica in one of the most dangerous community Cassava Piece. Cassava Piece is better known to the world as the “Gully Side”. Quick Cook love for music came at a very young age as he skipped school on a regular basis to play jukebox behind Constant Spring Market Place. In the early 90’s Quick Cook became a disc jockey as he played music in many different communities. Quick Cook was a disc jockey for many years and in 2010 he decided to take music to the next level. He wanted people hear him as a musician/artist as he thought many “ghetto youth” would be able to relate to what he has experienced or witnessed growing up in the “Garrison”. When asked Quick Cook where he got his influence to do music he stated that Bob Marley is his icon; however, Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, and Gyptian has contributed to his influence/career.
Since the rising of Quick Cook career he has traveled and performed in the United States, the British Virgin Islands, Bahamas and Africa. Quick Cook is also known for his unique style of slangs such as quick quick quick quick, Less than 3, Breadddd and prang. Quick Cook has also worked with multiple artists such as Anthony B, Vybz Kartel, Gyptian, Bugle, Krymist, Charli Blacks, and Popcaan as he was featured on his hit song “Party shot” in 2012. In 2014 Quick Cook was featured on MTV’s comedy show “Ridiculousness for his unique style in the dance hall and in 2015 his song “Back pon di floor” made it in the top 15 on the UK Vision Music Chart amongst other reggae dance hall artist like Mavado, I-Octane and Vybe Kartel.
Some of Quick Cook hit song include “Game Over” featuring Krymist, Never Give Up”, “One Day”, Nuh Loose Mi Focus” “Go Go Club” and his current single “View My Life”. When asked Quick Cook what kind of songs he writes he replied “songs that everyone can relate to as we all have different struggles and life is about growth”. Quick Cook career is on the rise as he expressed in his music that his strength to carry on comes from seeing his mother Daphne Dwyer struggle, the birth of his son Damari Lumley also known as “Baby Fast” and of course the continue support from his fans.
