Daily Stoic: March 5th - Cutting Back on the Costly

in #dailyquotes7 years ago (edited)

Greetings fellow Earthlings!

This right here is a daily practice for me in the year 2018. What I am working on is building a routine around @steemit and developing my blogging skills. Also here on Steemit I am making use of @DSound to share, promote and support independent musicians/producers such as myself, and have plans to share breathwork, ideas and audio/sound production tutorials on @DTube and @DLive.

It is going well so far! And I have to thank all of you who have been showing me love and support through the beginnings of this endeavor.

I very much appreciate your feedback, and love to connect with new folks on here! So don't hesitate to reach out.

And now for the Daily Stoic

As I'm sure a lot of folks here in the #Steemiverse have been doing in recent years, I most certainly have dropped as much as possible which doesn't serve a higher purpose for myself and loved ones.

I am not exactly to the point of dropping everything as I do have a growing family to provide for, but my partner and I are working towards our held vision of a creatively abundant life, with a small footprint, and a big impact.

Often we live out of vehicles, staying with friends and family, with storage unit holding our business infrastructure. . . shout out to @rainbowlightning!! See www.rainbowlightning.org and www.goldenturtlesound.org for more on our businesses.

BUT moving forward and nurturing our family we are looking for a more stable living situation to all our abode.

So what I am recognizing is that "what is superfluous" and "do I need this" are all circumstantial, and one of the great skills to develop is to realistically analyze life situations and personal goals with a continuous effort to stay adaptable to change.

Cutting Back on the Costly is good to remember as those things that are truly costly just aren't actually that aligned with where our current situation places us in this day and age.

And if you're like us, there is no time to waste on superfluous matters. We've got a paradigm to build!

I love reading the Daily Stoic each day because I love to ponder things, and to get in touch with my Self nature and essence.

While I may not be in full alignment with everything I find in this ancient lineage, it is often a good starting point for some really amazing thoughts and thinking about how to be the best; for ourselves, for each other and for the world.

If you enjoy pondering about Self and Mastery and the inner workings of Manifestation and How The World Works and such, then you will likely enjoy pondering these teachings throughout your day.

The authors Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman also provide some nice insight for each days quote. Both are modern day Stoics and have a lot to offer.

Each month follows a theme -
The, February, is about Passions and Emotions.
This mont, March, is about Awareness.

Sort:

"So what I am recognizing is that "what is superfluous" and "do I need this" are all circumstantial, and one of the great skills to develop is to realistically analyze life situations and personal goals with a continuous effort to stay adaptable to change."

That's so true and the point of much conflict in this world. So much of what is necessary and "important" is so very relative to ones individualized perspective and point of reference. Truth and what's "right" can be fuzzy sometimes. Especially when presuming for others. Peace Kola!!

I like that - presuming for others.

In some cases, such as children and close loved ones, we are put in the position of presumption. In others, such as societal pressures and cultural corporatism, there is an enforcement of presumption for others...

This is why decentralization is a key to unlocking individual and community potential. We can only truly know for ourselves what is “right” and beneficial or what is “wrong” and unnecessary.

Thanks for your insight bruddha! All The Love.

Mmm .. well said
