World's Worst Cat - DailyPetPhotography | Day 754

The World's Worst Cat

to be up for adoption has gone viral, though I hardly see the cat being as bad as Bob Rotten, aka Bobi the Bad, who is perpetually annoyed--and annoying.

Sweet little Bear!

Requests to adopt the cat from hell have flooded the shelter,

in spite of their protestations that this cat is no good. This says something about cat owners, but I don't care to know what it is. After all.... Bobi the Bad is still commanding my attention and servitude to his litterbox, food dish, and water supply. The faucets! Gaaahh!!!

On Christmas Eve in North Carolina, an evil shadow took up residence in the Mitchell County Animal Rescue. White and black with piercing green eyes and a disdain for all god’s creatures, this living curse took the form of a cat, described by the shelter as “a jerk” and the “world’s worst” example of her species. Now, a month later, the creature is ready to move into the home of those willing to brave her malignant presence.

Perdita, as the cat is called, is not being talked-up to those who might consider adopting her... she’s “not for the faint of heart.” Her “likes” include “staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again” as well as “jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners,” and “fooling shelter staff into thinking she’s sick (vet agrees ... she’s just a jerk).”

To most, the idea of living with Perdita sounds like a special sort of self-inflicted hell. But to others, the cat’s withering gaze might seem like a challenge. Tame Perdita and you’ve tamed one of hell’s own emissaries. Care for her until she allows you to scratch her dread belly and you’ve scratched the tummy of the devil’s own.

Honesty, the last resort of Animal Shelters - it sells!

@animal-shelter

Sssh, don't tell the cats, but....

Dogs Rule!

Sort:

She definitely looks mean. I wonder what happened to her to become like that?

Sounds like nothing worse than anything that's happened to countless other shelter cats ever happened to Perdita - she's just a jerk the vet says - and we could host a contest for whose cat is worse than Perdita. :)
If she doesn't prowl around waking the humans at night with senseless, LOUD, obnoxious, trivial demands, I'd say Bobi the Bad has her beat.
Guess who "unporches" him in the night after the man of the house locks him up in his soundproof sunporch... yeah, me, the pushover....
Bobi, Unporched!
Sounds like a bad action movie by Quentin Tarantino's cat.

I don't get it... she doesn't actually attack anyone. Who knows what she's thinking? Cats, generally, I just let them be and enjoy them like wonders of nature. If they respond to me, that's fine. If they don't, I respond to them and am content with the experience.
Perdida is lost only if we see her that way. I think the vet is a jerk. :))

I think it was all a publicity stunt - and it worked!
Like reverse psychology. Like "I dare you. I double dog dare you. I triple-cat dare you to take this cat from hell home with you!"
Flooded with applications because "the vet said she's just a jerk" - it worked.
I think Perdida sounds fine as she is. Now, my mom's feral cats... coming around to get fed and squatting outside her door all day, yet hissing if she steps too close, even after months or years of daily feedings. Ingrates!

That's so funny. I think the cats sense she resents them. The few ferals left around my house (they're not really feral anymore) meow a greeting when we walk by. Years ago, one even turned into a 'watch cat.' He used to sit on the front step. When my husband and I would take an evening walk, he'd come down to the edge of the sidewalk and wait for us to come back. One time, he followed us all the way around the block. Just once. He discovered the exercise was pretty boring and never followed us again :))
