Snails are a insect well actually they are really not a insect they are more members of the class Gastropoda, and are more closely related to squids interesting , snails and slugs are both in the gastropod group, and they are members that dwell in marine or fresh water as well as on land. We never look at a snail as any importance only that they are a slow moving squid but you know that these land snails serve an important role in the ecosystem they consume rotting vegetation like moist leaf litter, and also fungi , that's a really healthy menu :))
