DISCUSSION:
Many people of other faiths have challenged the validity of Jesus' resurrection. From our passage, what two things indicate that Jesus really resurrected from the dead (vs. 1-2, 5-9)?Mary Magdalene and the other women would not have been able to move the large stone from the entrance. Moreover, the Jewish leaders had requested that the tomb be sealed and soldiers stationed to guard it, to prevent the disciples from stealing the body of Jesus (Matt. 27:62-66).
Before Jesus was buried, His body was wrapped in a white linen (John 19:40). When Peter and John entered the tomb, they saw the linen clothes and face cloth folded and left behind. A robber who went to steal could not possibly have taken Jesus away and left the linen clothes. These were enough proof for John to believe (v. 8). The resurrection of Jesus was not only rooted in scripture but, but when it took place, the evidence were also too clear to ignore or disprove.
What next?
Reflect on the evidences and write down what the resurrection of Jesus means for you.
Prayer:
Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God and that you died and rose again.
REMAIN BLESSED!
Dear @scripture-union,
Here is another interesting proof of the resurrection of Christ:
The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. Matthew 28:4
After the chief priests had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money and instructed them: “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night and stole His body while we were asleep". Matthew 28:13
Although the chief priests said that they would keep the soldiers out of trouble, if the guards did actually fall asleep and let the body of Jesus be stolen, they would have been crucified themselves. Remember the fear and actions of the Philippian jailer who thought his prisoners escaped:
And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. Acts 16:27

Dear @scripture-union,
You are very welcome.
As the women bowed their faces to the ground in terror, the two men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee…” Luke 24:5
Yes, far beyond any reasonable doubt!
I am sure you will find my post, NOAH’S ARK AND THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST very enlightening.
