Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 11/18/18> Waking up to a new day…

My day of rest...

Sunday is a special day for me; it is my day of rest just like God intended it to be. Of course that is if there is a God and the people who wrote the story of Creation and the bible weren’t lying through the old hammers and chisels or quill pens and ink made from vegetable juices or animal blood that they wrote that book with.

Anyway, regardless of religious believes or non-believes we do need to take a break and re-energize our bodies and minds periodically. Sunday is that day for me.

Blondie and I...

Blondie and I are still boycotting the church services but there is a slight change since I last updated you. Blondie has for the last couple years volunteered on Sunday mornings with the bible study classes for the young kids and this boycott has cut into her doing that volunteering.

Her motivation for...

Well, her motivation for volunteering has been to accumulate “volunteer” hours so that when she applies for college it will look good on her application for acceptance. So this boycott has cost her now about ten hours of time and so she has decided starting this morning that she will be going back to church but only to help with the children's bible study for that one hour. So at 10:30 AM I will have to go pick her up as the others end up staying for the 10:50 church service.

Where I was headed...

Waking up to a new day was where I was headed with this and I did wake up and found that over night the “Will Eat BBQ 4 U” Texas BBQ review from the 15th of this month received a Curie upVote. So a big thanks to the folks over at @curie for recognizing the Daily Dose and the Texas BBQ review.

Nice to see them...

In these politically correct times and people being anti-gun most everywhere you turn it was nice to see them not hold it against me that the picture of the BBQ cooker that Woody’s Smoke House has is a gigantic six shooter pistol mounted on a 18 feet long trailer. I will have to drop by their discord channel and give them a “thank you” there as well.

Another new thing...

Another new thing this morning is out in the driveway and it belongs to the oldest boy. While he already has the old IROC Z Camaro and it runs and drives he decided he wanted something newer and more dependable.

Translation to truth...

Converting that to truth, he needs a newer model car so he can get more dates, chicks now a day don’t appreciate the classics and all of his friends are driving newer model cars. So Saturday after he closed up the hardware store he manages we went to the dealership and he purchased a later model used car that should be a good little car for him.

He did a good job...

He has been looking for quite some time and he finally found the exact car he was looking for and he did a good job in doing his research and comparative shopping so I give him credit for being responsible in that regard. He also was able to negotiate the price down a little and he purchased the warranty extension that was available since the year model is a 2016 and the original warranty would be running out soon.

His answer was...

So he is waking up to a new set of circumstances and a new ride but he was smart in that he didn’t bite off more than he can chew with this purchase. The guy in the finance department asked him if he had another car and when he told him that he did and it was the ’89 IROC Z with the 5.7 fuel injected model with the four wheel disc brakes and 16” factory wheels the guy asked him if he would like to trade it in on this purchase. His answer was “No.” and the guy said, “I didn’t think so, but I thought I would ask, I would love to be able to have an old IROC Z myself.”

So this Sunday...

So this Sunday has a couple new things and a lot of the old and I will be continuing the church boycott but I also have come to enjoy watching the church services on TV in my jammies sipping on a cup of coffee. I sure as hell can’t do that at the church down the road, plus I don’t have to shave.

Joel O’Steen is a good preacher and I like the fact he doesn’t have his church tied to some religious denomination. Religion is a lot like politics in my opinion.

Each religion thinks...

Each religion thinks they are the “true” religion and their god is the one and only god, just like the political parties think they are the “one” party that has all the answers and can solve all the problems. The truth is in religion and politics there really isn’t a dimes worth of difference between the whole bunch of them.

None of the people running these operations have any real concern for your well being only theirs. That is the way these systems and organizations are designed and that is just how it is when you get right down to it.

I have never understood...

I have never understood religious wars. Could there really be a God that condones killing other human beings because they may belong to a different religious denomination?

Until next time,
@sultnpapper

I somehow missed the bbq post because that cooker is a hoot! Only someone in Texas could come up with something like that...always big! Love it. I agree with you, religion and politics...so devisive... shouldn't be that way. I don't know how any religion would condone killing another human..truly makes me sad.

Yes that cooker is a real piece of fine craftsmanship right there and is definitely an eye catcher for sure. They use that cooker when they travel to fairs and festivals to sell their BBQ, it isn't the smoker they use for their everyday BBQ stuff.
There are a lot of things that are that shouldn't be the way they are, I will surely agree with you on that. So the big question is why do we put it with up? Especially when it comes to government and politics, it seems like people just don't know or don't care to know because then, if they knew, they might actually have to do something to change things.
We vote but we don't demand anything from the people we vote for and that makes no guzbucking sense in my book. I have pointed out numerous things in the past year about things in the US government that are jacked up all the way to hell and back and suggest that people at least question their elected officials about them. Maybe some day people will get more interested in getting things right but by the time that happens this country will be nothing more than a third world country itself and people will wonder just what the hell happened.
The religious wars make no sense and for religious wars to take place evidently at least a couple religions must not have an issue with killing other humans and I am with you in the sadness there.

Congratulations on the curie upvote mr Papper, well deserved!
I do not believe God would condone killing in any form! To my way of thinking, the religious wars are just plain evil, they should know better but sadly it's people who twist and interpret religion to suit their own power struggles. Very sad indeed!

Thank you Lizelle, I agree with you on the God and killing for sure.

I to try to make sunday my rest day, maybe it started with my religious upbringing, it just seems a good day of the week for it for me

that sure is an interesting Bar B Que stand, I think it is a cool to see whther pro or anti gun

Yes, my religious upbringing sure has to do with the Sunday thing too and it does make sense to use that day to just "chill out" since Monday starts the new work week.
That really is a neat cooker for sure.

I always liked to take Sunday off. When I was working it was good to have one day to mostly lay around and do little. Made my life a lot easier.

I've never understood religious wars. I've always figured they were really about territory and command but sold as 'kick the infidel out of XXX'. I simply can not imagine that any God could condone that.

I agree that it is all about power and control and people will use any means at their disposal I guess, including God, to accomplish what the devil is leading them too.

Completely agree about religion. I'm fairly irreligious, though I wouldn't describe myself as an unbeliever. I just haven't decided what I believe in. I've dipped into Buddhism a few times, as there is so much in it that appeals to me... but I don't think I could commit myself to being a Buddhist. In the film "Life of Pi" the hero has three religions - Christian, Hindu and Muslim - and why not? My mum and my sister are Quakers, and we have a good Muslim friend who is also a Quaker.

I am too the point that I don't need to tie my faith to any brand name of a religion. I believe there is a higher power that has a hand in everything here on earth that is good. I am not about to worry if I am with the right denomination, I am my own denomination now.
Churches and religions seem to be about controlling the members of their church or religion and that seems not to be how I think God intended things to be.

I am my own denomination now

I like that!
I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that when the Japanese had an empire in the 1920s and 30s they encouraged the colonised peoples to practise Christianity, even though they didn't practice it themselves, as it made them more obedient.
Not that I'm against Christianity. The New Testament says some great things.

So, I guess I am not the first to figure that out, the Japs beat me by damn near a hundred years. I at least have figured it out and that is how I am with it now, I don't need some third party acting as my "agent" between me and God.
