Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 09/25/18> A whole new meaning…this could send them scrabbling.

Big day...

So today is the big day, or a big day if you will, when we actually have the HF20 from what I have read written by some witnesses. I was glad to see the scroll bar return to my screen on steemit, I guess the thief who took it decided it was the wrong thing to do and put it back where it belonged.

Take time to digest...

So, we are getting some changes and rather than tell you them and what my take is on them or what I expect my take to be, I will just leave all of that for after I have had time to digest the changes. Right now I am looking at them and I don’t see anything that would concern me but I am curious on how the RC’s are going to work and just how many RC’s I will have when the change happens at 10:00 AM CST here in Texas.

Something is missing...

I keep seeing the term used about creating “more predictable user experiences” well that’s all good and well but I wish they would have added a word in there and I would feel a whole lot better about the changes happening today. If they could have just slipped the word “positive” in there between “more” and “predictable” so that it read, ‘more positive predictable user experiences’ that would make me think that they actually care about the folks that use this place.

Speaking of new...

Speaking of new, did you happen to catch that Scrabble has added some new words to the official list of words for the game? Did you even know there is an “official” Scrabble dictionary?

Believe it really helped...

Okay, so you did know those. But, up until 1976 you could use any dictionary and I grew up playing Scrabble and I believe it really helped me with my spelling and also with my vocabulary. I kept a dictionary by my bed and would look for words at night that I could use that would send my brothers and sister scrambling for the dictionary to prove me wrong. I quit playing the game before the official game dictionary game into use.

Poker games are more fun...

I think we actually have a Scrabble game but family poker games are more fun and besides you don’t have to know how to spell anymore with computers and spell check.

I looked at some of the new words that were added and quite frankly I think the game is going down the tubes. Zomboid isn’t a guzbucking word and neither is ew; if those are real words then I am a monkey’s uncle. I can go along with adding sheeple, there are far too many of those walking around here in the USA to argue that word being included.

Ew isn't a word...

Ew is the natural noise your body makes when you see something disgusting and are about to vomit, which some of words being added to the game makes me want to do. Since I am the self proclaimed creator of the word “guzbuck” and some words have more than one meaning I am adding another meaning to the word guzbuck. That’s right; from this day forward guzbuck is now a dual meaning or dual purpose word.

The original remains...

The original meaning of guzbuck and the use of it remains the same with no changes so continue to use it where you see fit. The added use of the word will be as a response when someone sneezes, instead of “bless you” or “gesundheit” it is just “guzbuck”. I guess you could add the word “you” if you really wanted to be polite, “guzbuck you”.

So there you have it; “aaahahhchoo” will get you a “guzbuck” or even a “guzbuck you”.

Why, why I am...

So, I know some of you are asking why I am doing this. Well, if imoji can be added to the Scrabble game this time around then why can’t guzbuck be added next time? I read that they update the official list of words about every four to eight years, the next time they consider words I want guzbuck to be among those considered.

Wouldn't stand a chance...

You and I both know guzbuck wouldn’t stand a chance with the sole meaning being what it is. At least by adding a different meaning we might be able to trick them into including it the next go around when they add words.

Help me out here...

So the next time you hear someone sneeze, just bless them with a guzbuck or guzbuck you. I can tell you that I have already done this a couple times and the people actually thanked me. They didn’t have a guzbucking clue what guzbuck meant but they were happy I acknowledge their sneeze.

From this day, September 25, 2018 and going forward, being guzbucked could be a blessing you can count on receiving or giving.

Have a great day folks.
Until next time,
@sultnpapper

Bzzzz... I almost declared you missing...
and by the way...I miss playing poker on SPL...with you...it was only one time and that was not @lidac...it was me taking a gamble with you....still a highlight for me..🤘

I almost was, I was dead tired last night and fell asleep before I could post it. You need to come back and play more, there are a lot less players now though about 20 to 30 on a good night. You are a pretty good poker player for a lady.

Sweet dreams!! For now...😉

Yes, my pillow is calling me, adios.

They spell it "ew?" I've always said, "ewww..."
Or, if something is really disgusting, "Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..." 😛

That is what my sources say on how they spell it, they say that there are not enough two letter words around in the English language so they went with one "w". I agree though, phonetically there are a whole bunch more w's in the word depending on the situation.

Here's hoping for positive experiences, that leaving that out was simply an oversight.

We played scrabble at my Mom's parents place. There was a dictionary at hand, but my aunt Haroldine was the arbitrator and no amount of argument or dictionary ink could change her ruling. She was guzbucking right even when she was wrong.

I was maybe 18 at a scrabble game that included my uncle Jim and aunt Becky when Jim uttered one of those truisms that you never forget. "Once a King always a King but once a Knight is enough". Becky turned about 7 colors of red and called him James. I'm guessing once a knight was too many that night.

Uncle Jim was only 5 years older than me, and was an uncle twice before he was born. His two nieces just tortured him with 'uncle' in elementary school. I miss him, he was one of the good guys. Becky is still part of the family, though. She's remarried (maybe 20 years) and they come to every family reunion.

Well, good luck with Guzbuck. It's a good word and probably should be in the Scrabble dictionary. I'll use it with regularity, in case just pure usage counts...

I know it is heavily dependent on pure usage; people only use the word "imoji" to tell people that they used some childish emblem of a face because they where to lazy to tell someone "that made me smile" or to ask someone if they are to lazy to ask someone, "did that make you smile" .
"Do you use imoji's?" would be how that question would come out of their mouths.
As much as people use imoji's it has to be on frequency of use, there is nothing I can see on that word other than that. Plus I can't stand the use of them.

FOR TSE: I have officially adopted guzbuck in its original meaning into my everyday vocabulary. And I may insist The Weasel do, too. It will get a lot more workout from him than it does from me if that happens.

I also officially nominate guzbuck as the shibboleth by which TSE members can recognize each other -- until its adoption is more widespread. (That can help make it happen, frankly.)

Bet you didn't think I knew the word "shibboleth" did you? The rest of you go look it up.

And every one of you ... have a guzbucking wonderful day!! Yay -- HF20!!

I second your motion of nomination for Guzbuck. I know that you and @bigtom13 are solidly in on the use and I think others will adopt it as well, it clearly would be a shibboleth if you say so.

I had no doubt you knew that word. I would have had to know the word myself in order too doubt it, which I didn't. But there is no doubt you are confident in shibboleth and the guzbucking meaning of it by your use of it. I'll have to be one to look it up so I know how to properly use shibboleth in the proper context.

Well, I just hit 100% on my resource credits, so I guess I need to go spend some. I'll start here -- because it's going to take some catching up to get over the 5 day gap we've been handed. I feel like I've been gone forever.

Yes, it is a fresh feeling to be able to post and comment and tomorrow get to vote on stuff. Glad to see you visiting here with me. Thanks.

What a guzbucking wonderful shibboleth that is! Where did you dig that wonderful word up @enchantedspirit, I've never come across it ;)

Not talking Scrabble now and going off the subject as usual, but I have to say it - I really think we need an American/ British English dictionary as well, so many words you use that mean something totally different in our English language!

You are right, that would be handy. I have something I am going to DM you, my wife said she thought she is going to try it and when I saw it I immediately thought of you, have you heard of Ooni? I am sending the link now.

I am waiting with baited breath to see what will come when we HF20! Fingers crossed that they got it right. I haven't played Scrabble in a while. We used to play it when the kids were all home. We still play card games and board games when we get together. We have started a sort of games night here in the compound. It was a bit of a challenge to come up with something that would get all or most of the 21 people involved. We managed to divide it into age groups and have three or four games going at one time. It started out as a once a week thing and now they want it two or three times a week! Possibly for the snacks that go along with games night...

Well I couldn't answer this in a timely fashion since this place had me locked down so we all know the fingers crossed didn't work.
That is great that you guys can get that whole group spilt out and playing board games, they are good fellowship for family and friends.

Haha, that's just guzbucking ridiculous!
They cant just add words willy-nilly! Ugh!

My thoughts exactly.

Tried to upvote this yesterday, but... guzbucked by HF20!
Or should that be guzbuqued? If guzbuck was spelt with a 'q' and a 'u' – hence, guzbuque – it would (potentially) be Scrabble gold! Hmm...

If you want to make the Scottish version of guzbuck have at it, but the English version isn't changing, I have already done enough by expanding the use to bless sneezing, I am not going any further.

I think that was more of a Francophone version. The Scottish version would be guzmcbuck.

Okay, you work Europe with it and I'll handle North America.

It's a plan!
