Let me just ask you a bunch of questions real quick. .

do you have the same email address you’ve had for years
do you still use the same mobile device for more than one year
do you have your phone number on websites/billing
have you had the same router for more than a year
do you regularly rotate your passwords monthly to new ones
do you check the headers or double check the links you receive

i’d say that the majority of people don’t care, understand or are scared of diving into the rabbit hole that is malware, viruses, security updates, vulnerabilities, spear attacks, phishing, etc etc, the list goes on and on — you see our digital profiles and our analog lives merged and yet we give them less attention that the other things that we need to keep on top of in life, I got a very real reminder of that today from a family member.

I guess I’m the ‘guy’ to ask in our family because I’m the ‘computer guy’ right? Trust me I could talk at length of these things, how reputation scores and algorithms are changing our very interactions with each other because do have to double and triple those very digital engagements with each other — the truth is there is no silver bullet security these days, it’s iterative knowledge that we need to have and it can take a lot of our brain power up and if your elderly very stressful and overwhelming.

I really DON’T have a complete answer for anyone on the subject, your digital life now is under attack more than any other time in ‘computing’ history, we have lots of old hardware out there, unmatched, needing new firmware, big attack vectors of physical hardware being state sponsored hijacked and used as a cyber weapon against their person of choice — the tools to do these things are in the hands of script kiddies too and people with grudges — I really feel for people that ‘just wanna consume’ a stream of news from the internet because these days you have to have a level of protection just to USE a computer on the internet.

It really put a pin in my day today to hear the struggle that people are going through and the realisation / need to change everything to be in some way better off for another period of time. Communications now is an ever moving target and now that we have quantum technology coming online too you just will never know where it’s coming from, there is no route, no sandbox for you to capture an event like that.

Combined to with AI, VR and QUANTUM we just won’t know who we are, where we came from and where we are, if you ever watched the MATRIX film you know right now that we are just one, hop, skill and a jump away from that reality.
