CARDANO VENT - DAEDALUS WALLET IS SIMPLY THE WORST CRYPTO WALLET EVER
I'm NOT heavily invested in ADA so my opinion doesn't hodl much weight.
There are a lot of crypto wallets out there. Many of them have flaws, bugs and their own particular downsides.
One example, is Exodus Wallet - I've used this crypto desk top wallet for over a year and a half now and generally I still like the product. The wallet is regularly updated and notifications of any changes are usually delivered rapidly. I have some issues with Exodus over time: changing the portfolio/holdings too many times gets a bit annoying but nothing's perfect. One thing that made me stop using the wallet was that a few versions ago the wallet "Unstaked" EOS holdings automatically, so for a few months I stopped using it.
Cardano Buy In
When I first bought some Cardano (ADA) it was worth about 0.40 usd then in late 2017 it climbed to an ATH of 0.93 usd. Don't quote me on that, but it remember it nearly doubled.
I downloaded the official Daedalus wallet because I wanted to secure my tokens off the exchange. I remember setting up the wallet was a bit of a shocker.
Daedalus took 3-4 hours to set up. Seriously, WTT?
Was it downloading the complete blockchain history of the token or something?
Then the crypto winter swept through the space.
I figured, I was content to cool off and deposit my meagre investment into the wallet and just forget about it until the Bulls came back, if they ever do come back!
Daedalus
Recently, I checked out the price of Cardano and thought that it was sufficiently low enough to buy a little more - Who Knows Right? At 0.07 usd, it seemed like a a good time to buy.
Well I traded in some of my beloved Steem and got a fair amount of Cardano in return.
I decided once again that I didn't want to leave the tokens on the exchange, I'm a little bit paranoid about some exchanges disappearing overnight. I hadn't even opened the Cardano Wallet for over a year, and well maybe you can guess?
Can't even open the Daedalus Wallet.
I tried loading the wallet and it said... "loading 23.4%" .
Suddenly, I remembered how freaking slow opening the wallet was.
Damn, I thought. I'll just have to wait another 3-4 hours, right?
WRONG!
Initially, I opened the wallet at 11am on my laptop and, after a few minutes of non-existent progress, moved on to work on other things with the Wallet loading in the background.
Check it again after 5 hours.
Loading 34.4%
Are you fucking kidding me? This shit-wallet is still loading?
Alright, whatever, it's not end of the world. So, I left it on all day (maybe 12+ hours).
At this point, it's like 3am , check it once more and it reads:
loading 73.6%
FUUUCK YOU!!!
Give me a break!! The wallet only holds a single FREAKING token in it - ADA!!
How in the hell can it take 12 hours to load a wallet with a single FREAKING TOKEN???
TOTAL SHITE!
I'm turning this bitch off!
Tried it again the nest afternoon and it reads:
Loading 73.03%
Oh COME ON, it's unloaded a couple of percentages since yesterday?
Ridiculous wallet.
Still can't open this shit-wallet.
What Does Daedalus Mean?
Out of fist clenching frustration I did a search of the name Daedalus and according to the ancient.eu webpage:
Daedalus is a figure from Greek mythology famous for his clever inventions and as the architect of the Minotaur’s labyrinth on Crete.
https://www.ancient.eu/Daedalus/
Sounds about right.
How "clever"?
I can relate to the labyrinth part for sure.
Make a labyrinth-like wallet that cannot be open - Great idea.
HOW ABOUT NOW?
Just for the hell of it, I'm going to try to open the Daedalus Wallet right now!
Let's see what happens?
loading 73%!!!!
WEEEEAAK!
Update?
Maybe there's some update that I'm not aware of? The thought has crossed my mind. But if I think of other desktop wallets the GOD DAMN wallet opens first and then let's you know there's an update available and links to the latest version.
I can't even open this Dae-Da-lus >>> Data-Loss
I'm just venting.
If anyone knows how to get this thing to work please leave a comment, cheers!
PS. Keep Cardano on the exchange, it will save you a massive brain freeze of frustration ;)
