Still Looks Better than Me

I drove down to Temecula Saturday to see dad and make sure he was doing okay. He survived open heart surgery four weeks ago. The doctor replaced his aortic valve with a cow valve and bypassed two clogged arteries. For years, dad told me emphysema took his breath away. It turns out I need to worry about my heart.

Dad looks great and takes a daily walk around the park. We ate lunch and visited about his progress. He turns 80 in August and still looks in better shape than me.

I need to start walking again!

He carries a stuffed bear around to absorb the shock waves when he coughs. Pretty smart idea.

Dad is already itching to get back to Oregon. His doctor won't let him drive until June at the earliest. I fully expect him to hit the road as soon as he gets permission to travel.
