A Glimpse of 81st Araw ng Davao

Last March 3, 2018 was the official opening of the 81st Araw ng Davao. This is to celebrate the founding anniversary of the city with a theme: "Stand Tall, United, Resilient". Despite the city facing different kinds of challenges like the tragic fire in NCCC Mall last december, bombing threats, and the resignation of the former Vice Mayor Paulo Duterte; Dabawenyos remained strong and united.

Today, March 16, 2018 was the main day of its celebration. The day starts with a parade attended by the goverment officials, private organizations, and the tribal groups.

Many police and soldiers were asigned in different areas to maintain the city's security. But according to Mayor Sarah, the job is becoming less difficult for the police since the Dabawenyos themselves cooperates by being good citizens.

The highlights of this years Araw ng Davao was the competition for the crown, Mutya ng Davao 2018. From 60 Dabawenya beauties who joined the screening, they were trimmed down to the top 15. These 15 candidates showed off their speaking prowess and wit during the live interview as well as the question and answer portion.

Thursday night, March 15, 2018, was the coronation night of Mutya ng Davao. Among the 15 beautiful ladies competing, Candidate No. 13, Shella Faye Juntilla was crowned Mutya ng Davao 2018. She really deserves the crown for her beauty and love of Davao City. These are just among the exciting events happening here in Davao City.
