We are in PRE-CYCLONIC ALERT in my country! A tropical cyclone named **Berguitta** threatening us!

Hope you are all doing well! Here on this side of the earth, well...there's some bad news coming up for everyone of us here in Mauritius!

Since this afternoon the country is on cyclone warning class one which means that there's risk of cyclonic winds in the next 36 to 48 hours!

Let me explain a bit on the cyclone warning system here:

THE CYCLONE WARNING SYSTEM FOR MAURITIUS

Class I

Issued 36 to 48 hours before Mauritius is likely to be affected by gusts reaching 120 km/h.

Class II

Issued so as to allow, as far as practicable, 12 hours of daylight before the occurrence of gusts of 120 km/h.

Class III

Issued so as to allow, as far as practicable, 6 hours of daylight before the occurrence of gusts of 120 km/h.

Class IV

Issued when gusts of 120 km/h have been recorded in some places and are expected to continue

Termination

Issued when there is no longer any risk of gusts exceeding 120 km/h.

Real danger!

I have been following the evolution of this tropical cyclone quite closely as well as checking different expert weather predictions sites, and the risk of this cyclone coming very close to Mauritius is very high!

Heavy rains : Flooding alert ahead!

The recent days we have already got so much rain falling making the earth saturated already! Now with the coming of this cyclone, more rain is expected!
I am fearing for the worst in many places of Mauritius!

240 km/h of gust

This tropical cyclone has already reached a peak of 240 km/h of gust 60kms around the eye! The path it is taking for the time being is a direct threat for Mauritius!

If we are to get bad weather in the coming days due to this cyclone, the situation will be very hard for many Mauritians here. I just hope they get to a safe place as soon as possible.

I will also take my precautions early in the morning, I have to make sure I have some candles, torch lights and batteries in place!
During cyclones, normally there is no electricity which will be a very bad thing for me as there will be no internet too!

If you do not see me posting in the coming days, it will be due to no internet/electricity, but anyway I will try my best to keep you informed of the situation here!
