RE: Promoting Cyclists with Leased Steem Power
Leasing SP is paying someone to delegate SP to you for a set length of time. You can bid on votes from bots but if too many people bid, you will lose money. Minnowbooster and Smartsteem are better vote sellers because unless the price of Steem drops, you should get a little more back than you paid. There are people who think you shouldn't do anything with the steem currency apparently. But I've seen people criticize others for using bidbots while simultaneously using leased SP to upvote their own comments on someone else's post. The thing is that upvotes are worthless unless someone has money invested in the platform. A lot of the value of steem as a cryptocurrency is driven by it's use in the Steemit economy. You can just write posts and get SBD if people like your writing, but the rewards come from inflation. Steemit lets those who have invested Steem, in Steem Power, decide where those rewards go. The website allows them to sell the votes, so they do. Somebody has to invest money for anybody to get rewards. We can all upvote each others posts all day but unless any of us has steem invested, it's not going to add more than a few pennies to a post. Some people go on discord chats and get on curation trails that include people with a lot of voting power. That's a big part of it too. People with a lot of voting power aren't just spending all day looking for best well-written posts of the day. They want people to join their curation trail so they can get high curation fees. It's all fine to me. I just think they shouldn't act like their way is the only right way to use steemit.
My own opinion is just not to be completely selfish about it. We all came here because we heard you can make money posting on a blog. I want to work together with others in the same community.
Thanks for the reply. It made things clearer. I think I will just stick to the basics and write about my travel. I am passionate about it so there is lots of motivation. Recently I also started to write short stories into a novel.
