Lol yeah, that's what parents probably do: "Shut up kid, here's an iPad, distract yourself with it so I can focus on mine."
at first I thought that you will say "Shut up kid, here's an iPad, distract yourself with it so I can focus on your mother/father/ the waitress/...." But I guess in current age your scenario is more likely.
