John, might I suggest that you make a standard signature that you drop at the bottom of each post, something like:

ETH address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
LTC, NEO, DASH etc.....

Thank you a lot. Today will be the first ride. We go from HK to Shenzhen mostly by train due to heavy rain. In Shenzhen we will cycle for a bit until we get to our hostel.

No I don't see how they can do that. I doubt it violates any rules, at least not any I can remember reading. Hell, look at how Steemit works, the ones who rape the reward pool are the most popular!
And if one or two idiots do vote you down, well then, to hell with them. Others will vote you up.
Obviously nobody wants to read posts that are just about begging, so if I were you I would type my normal posts and then openly and honestly ask for donations and briefly what the money is for in a standard signature under each post. Something like the disclaimer I use on mine - preferably shorter.

Tip: always use all five tags at the bottom of your post. Instead of just "cycle" add in things like "photography", "touring", "food" etc. You will reach a far wider audience!

Since you have 2 "bike" themed ones, consider using "food" or "cooking". On my home PC I have a link to the most popular Steemit terms. I'll see if I can find it for you, it can really help you find the biggest audience.
